VLC is infinitely more configurable than Arcsoft for everything other than Blu-Ray. You cannot play a blu-ray discs with VLC. You can play the .m2ts files that are on the blu-ray disc. But no menus and features. VLC will provide two-way feedback if that is important to you. I have switched to using VLC for all media other than blu-ray. For my handful of blu-ray titles I still use Arcsoft. I do not see any difference in video playback quality between VLC and Arcsoft. So it just boils down to which one you like best.
