OK.

Now the plug in does not hang during startup. The previous plug in at least was able to connect to the PIM. This one doesn't connect to the PIM and when I go to the log file, it scrolls very fast with a bunch garbage and tehn ML Server CRASHES and shuts down.

OH MAN!! Now what????? :?

Hi Mario

I will be able to test this plug in tommorow when I am at my clients. feel free to give me a call if Jermey is able to work on the plug in and hopefully we can get it back working like it was with the fix.

Please redownload the latest UPB update as of now. This one is tough to troubleshoot because we cannot replicate on our end even on multiple test systems. Any other hints or info that anyone can provide if this version doesn't resolve it would be helpful.

Installed Latest and Still Broken

Postby psaport » Wed Nov 07, 2007 1:10 pm

Can't provide much detailed information because when the %^&*^^&% mllighting plugin is loaded and has imported upe file it will not control or read devices, and worse it hangs mlserver on startup. The only thing i know is that if i just add the controller and do not import upe it will not hang mlserver. Also if i go to add a device after putting it in program mode it reports that device not found. My guess is that it has to do with PIMM communications. My PIMM that i am using and has worked fine before this latest update is a WebMountain SPIM-01 Its a serial device, running on comm2 , Reports to plugin that Firmware version is 4.15, Product ID 0030, MFG ID 0001, Module ID 48. Just a hunch here but i think the PIMM is not communicating properly since the latest rev.
PS: In a previous post I stated that I had lost the previous working version of the UPB IO plugin. Is there a way for me to get a copy of the prior version so I can get some things working again. My system is fairly crippled now going on 5 days.

Additional Information.

If i do not connect on startup I can manually connect. I am unable to read the status or control the devices from the lighting control panel, However if I manually change the state of a light at the physical switch, it does report back to the plugin and the new value/ state is updated.

I cant even get the device talking at all anymore and when I did, I was unable to get it to see any devices. I have a simply automated serial unit and before, it was able to find the PIMM, now when I try to connect, it does not connect.

I agree with you that its a situation with the software communicating with the PIMM because another situation I was noticing was if I reboot and start up UPsoftware, it connects fine and I am able to program, etc.

Now if I start ML and then try to go back to UPStart, it locks up and I have to shut it all down again.

ITs almost like its locking up something and not letting it go.

Arghhh!!!!

Postby psaport » Wed Nov 07, 2007 4:05 pm

Yes my observations that follow the request to download and try the latest version assuming that is todays version wedensday. Nov 7, 2008 are specific to the results derived from downloading and playing with the latest broke plugin.
Again I would like to know if anyone has the previous working version available as this is getting frustrating for me.
Thank you in advance.

Phil,

Once the programmer is back in the office - we will be rolling the driver back. Most likely tomorrow morning.

We're stilling having issues since we cannot reproduce yet on our end.

I just loaded in the last driver and tried to connect to the PIMM, but no luck. The connect button greys out and then comes back but it does not connect.

Oh and it still hang on the plug in during start up but it eventually releases

Mario,

Another strange issue is this.. I started ML and had an issue with the plug in, we know that, but then I close ML server and start UPStart software and that software connot see the PIMM to connect.

I now have to shut down the PC and re-start in order to clear out what ever is tying up the PIMM module that ML Server is causing

Just an FYI

CCAP

It is unfortant that the plug in broke just as you were trying to use it, Mario and Jermey have allways been quick to fix or add new ablitys to the plug in. I am sure it will be taking care of shortly. I havent had much of a chance to test the latest release, I went to try today but could not get in on the user login area to download the latest version. I will send you the latest version I had running tommorow if Mario doesn't get it fixed by tommorow. I have to go to my clients tommorow and I will be able to confirm what versions was the last working versions before the break.

you might have to try and reset your PIMM

To do this:
Press the set 5 times, then press again 10 times while the light is blinking...blinking should change color, then press set button 2 more times.
This will reset UPB and you should now be able to connect from our UPB driver.

Hi CCAP

I logged on to my client computer that I have running with the latest version before the crash and I pulled some files that you can try.

It should install

1.0925 ML family plug in
1.1.0.67 ML Family Properties DLL
1.0.0.272 UPBIO Control DLL
1.0.0.630 UPBControl.DLL
1.0.0215 UPB light Control DLL.

as this is the working version that I know works.

let me know how you make out

I can't add the file as an attachment so you will have to email me and I can send it to you
