Error loading UPE file

Postby jinksjj » Wed Feb 21, 2007 2:14 pm

Ok, I think we have solved the problem.

It appears that your PIMM unit is in pulse mode when it needs to be in message mode. This can happen from using UPStart.

We have posted an update that will force the PIMM into message mode if it is detected to be in pulse mode.

Madge - that's great to hear.

You gotta love UPB.

There has also been an update to the MLLighting Family plugin that subscribes to our startup feature in the latest MLServer.

This means that the plugin won't poll status of your lights until after MLServer has loaded.

New problem. Downloaded and installed latest MLLighing Family plugin and latest MLServer. MLServer hangs on startup trying to load MLLighting. The only way out is to kill the process, DELETE the MLLighting dlls, and restart MLServer.

MLServer 3.0.237
MLLighting.dll 1.00.0721
MLLightingFamilyProperties.dll 1.1.0.26
UPBController.dll 1.0.0.452
UPBLightControl.dll 1.0.0.195

Madge,

UPBController should be 1.0.0.462 - please redownload and install.

If you still run into problems...let us know if your UPB controller is or is not connected. Then try unconnecting or reconnecting and starting MLServer to see if there is a difference.

OK, I've got the right UPBController verion now.

MLServer still hangs on startup trying to load MLLighting....with PIM physically connected AND with the PIM disconnected.

Madge,

Make a backup of your MLLighting database. Make sure MLServer is shutdown. Then reinstall MLLighting Family plugin. Then restart MLServer.

Can you tell in MLServer where it's hanging while loading?

OK, I renamed the MLLighting mdb, reinstalled the MLLighting Family plugin. MLServer started up just fine. Then, though, I was unable to connect to the PIM, so I reinstalled all the pieces. At that point, I was able to connect to the PIM OK.

Then I tried to load the UPE file. Back to hanging on the first device. The log file is attached. UPBController.dll is 1.0.0.462

I picked up your latest update, jinksjj, and I'm back in business. PIM connects, UPE file loads, and I'm able to restart MLServer and successfully load the mllighting plugin. Thank you.

The mllighting plugin is taking just over 3 minutes to load, so if it's not polling devices at MLServer startup, I wonder what it's busy doing?

No errors in the Event Log.

MLLighting loading time

Madge,

What is happening is that the plugin is reading some information from the light such as whether or not the light is dimmable.

This can take a while when you have a large number of lights.
