2 Denon receivers; 2 Denon plugins?

Postby beerguy » Sat Mar 24, 2007 1:00 am

I've got 2 Denon's in the same rack together. Is there a solution for having 2 Denon serial plugins in the same MLServer?

Thanks,

Pat

Not at this time. I will speak with Mario and Dave about a plugin upgrade.

Has there been any decision on updating the plugin to support to Denon Amps? Any other thoughts on how to control 2 amps on the same rack if the upgrade doesn't ever happen?

Thanks,

Pat

Hey Pat,

I plan on adding a multiple receiver capability to the plugin. I ahve been out of town quite a bit and have not had the time to research it.

I am pretty sure it will be doable though.

Don't expect it until some time in June at the earliest though.

I also have two Denon receivers in the same rack and would like to be able to control both.

I currently use MLDenon for one and MLGenericSerial with my own direct serial commands for the other.

I just returned from 3 weeks in Europe. I will be looking into the upgrade in the next few weeks and will include multiple receiver capability.

Hi Joe -
Any update on the update?

tim_kieschnick, how easy/difficult was setting up the Generic plugin? I have a Denon DVD player that I'd love to have serial control of. Would it be possible using the Generic plugin?

Thanks,

Pat

The serial commands for the Denon receivers were super easy. Basic ASCII over RS232. I set up some macros for all the functions then all of my events and scenes called those macros (ie Denon6800.PowerOn). I did have to add some timing delays since there's no feedback with the GenericSerial plugin. LMK if you want my macro file.

I looked into the protocol for the Denon DVD player (I think I have a 2900 or something) and it was a completely different beast. That one looked like a lot of work.
