What we really need is a TextBox with a scroll bar down the right side as some songs lyrics are too large to fit unless the font size is really small.

Any chance of this?

Mario would have to build it and it's been asked for MANY times. Not a perfectly simple task so it's development can get lost in the daily deal.
One of Mario's issues is determining how customizable that would need to be.. ie: is the ability to tint the background, the border, the slider handle, the slider background, the slider outline colors essential? what about the shape of the slider handle? User configurable? How many rows / width? User configurable? What about HTML formatting? What about just <BR> support?
When you think of it from that perspective, it starts getting difficult.

Agreed. Most things aren't as easy as they may appear although I do agree a scrolling text box would be a tremendous tool to have down the road. Maybe start simple and add features if warrented.

In the meantime, does anyone have any experience with taking a variable, such as created by MLLyric and separating it into sections, maybe by counting double <BR>'s, and then creating 2 or 3 separate variables by slicing at one or more of the double <BR>'s? Just thinking out loud.

In terms of breaking up the MLLyric Variable you might use some of the MLString functions to break it up into multiple variables of a certain length.

As for the scrolling text box I agree that it could get a little complicated but I agree with starting off simple. The size of the box can be changed with the font size etc. The background can achieved with another button in the back etc. If we just started with a simple scroll capability either one line at a time or a scroll bar simular to that in WebLobby.

Just a thought.

The simple one - tied to a text file - is what I used for this in the past.

If I knew any Flash, I'd guess I could tie it to an ML variable instead of a text file. Built in Flash, it's easy to change size, color, etc. I used them for a Lyrics test and a couple of other things. They work well and I think they'd be a great addition to ML if they're flexible enough.

My JRMC database has the artist name in the following format:

Collins, Phil
Brown, James
etc.

Is there any way short of massaging the name in ML to accomodate this in MLLyrics. Sometimes I get a hit but most times it does not find the lyrics.

Many Thanx

Who to get mllyrics to work?

Postby Ranger Home Automation » Sun Sep 16, 2007 9:21 am

I have gone thru wiki and every post that has mlllyrics. I see the command:

MLServeCmd.MLLyrics|GetLyrics~<<CURARTIST>>~<<CURTITLE>>~Zone 1

I created a button in ml musiclobby but not sure where to go from there. How are yall gettin lyrics to display and where? Am I missing a wiki somewhere? thanks for the help.

edit: wiki says "Put this in MusicLobby3's On Change field". were is the on change field?

In JRMC, go to Services and Plug-ins (on left), then MusicLobby Server. Select the Update Triggers tab. Add the command for the zone you want to display the lyrics.

On your scene, add a text button with {{mllyrics_lyrics_zonename or number}} in the label.

ricks, you just make things too easy! thanks bud.

Ok I added {{mllyrics_lyrics_zone 1}} to text label. It works. where do you think most put these llyrics? you are having it go to another page/screen to display it there? if i leave it on the main music screen , its funky. just curious how others are doing it. I would like it to be in the field where the play list is. so on one side is the coverart with the artist, album and song title, then on the right are llyrics.

I did my first edit in wiki to add these notes. But when I put in {{mllyrics_lyrics_zone 1}}, this is what displays in wiki:

Template:Mllyrics lyrics zone 1.

not sure how to make it show the {{}}

Where to put it? That's the rub. There's only one text box that can handle it and its so large that it takes up a full scene, or more. Hence the discussion above. I've played with MLStrings but haven't had any luck getting it the way I want.

So for now, I have it on a scene of its own with a small coverart, artist, album and song. Most lyrics fit, some still trail off the bottom of the scene.

rick, thanks that will work for me for now. I will have a button that takes me to a new scene IF i want to see the lyrics, otherwise, the musiclobby stays as is unless i want to see the lyrics.

thanks again!!

You have to surround things in {{}} with <nowiki></nowiki>, as {{}} has meaning to the wiki software.
I've fixed this in a few places in the wiki already.
