Postby DavidL » Wed Oct 11, 2006 7:11 am

Announcement MLLyrics Plugin for use with Mainlobby Server 3 and MainLobby 3. This is a plugin that will work with MusicLobby 3 to pull song lyrics.

Please post any questions / answers / tips / usages on MLLyrics in this thread.

Usage:
MLLyrics|GetLyrics~Artist~Song~Zone Name
or
MLLyrics|GetLyrics~Artist~Song
zone name is optional

October 11, 2006
Initial Release of MLLyrics.
This is a free upgrade for MainLobby 3 customers.
Initial release is for the plugin. Future releases might include graphical UI components to display lyrics effectively.
For now, you can use a text box.
Also now supported is multizones that will create a per zone variable containing lyrics for that zone.
Thanx to 90CE (Tracy) for quickly putting this together!

Sounds great!

How will it deal with artist names during the search?

I know some (mostly rap and r&b) have funky spellings. Like 2Pac could be 2 Pac.

also what about greatist hits albums or say a best of the 80's? They usually have multiple artists and only a album name.

Thanks!

I am getting an error in the log when sending the command from mlserver:

Very Nice! =D>

How do you handle multiple zones?

I did'nt try yet, but assume you could put a pause after
MLServeCmd.MLLyrics|GetLyrics~<<CURARTIST>>~<<CURTITLE>>
Then set a variable like mllyrics_lyrics_Zone2 from the zone it was triggered from.

Thanks Again! The wife is gonna love this!

Todd, no plans to change it right now. Way too much on the plate. Tracy was bored the other night so he was good enough to get it this far. But now he isnt' bored :)
You could probably do something with a MLServeCmd that copied the current Var result to a zone specific var using the MusicLobby 3 variables.

Also, depending on how good your song tagging is, will be big determinent on how good the lookup is.

We have a solution in development to help thos that have attrocious maintained libraries like mine. I can't wait!

Ok, so Tracy was more bored than I thought.
He added an optional parameter for Zone.
MLServer 3 will now have a Lyrics variable per zone, if you elect to use it that way. To use it, put the new syntax with the Zone parameter unique for each zone's On Change command field.

kirkfrey, yes, it certainly does. Put some heat on Mario :)
Tracy gave Mario a flash file for some magic work. I am sure something good will come of it.

Has anyone figured out how to manipulate the mllyrics_lyrics variable in MLS? I display the lyrics in the Text.Multiline box and it works great except the lyrics run off the bottom of the scene.

Any ideas how to parse this variable into multiple Text.Multiline boxes so the entire lyric can fit on a scene? Not a big issue but the family loves this plugin and whines about not seeing the closing lyrics.

Thanks,
Rick
