Announcing: MusicLobby 3

Postby DavidL » Sun Aug 20, 2006 4:04 pm

MusicLobby 3 is now available!
MusicLobby 3 leverages the multizone capability of J. River Media Center to provide for MainLobby Client PCs to view and control multiple zones and even multiple Media Servers. With the zone specific information available, a Now Playing scene that you can now develop can display what your entire multi zone music system is playing. And, with the new control features, MainLobby Server 3 automation logic can be used to control your sound system as well.

You can build a music system like no other with MusicLobby 3.

Don't forget to look at the MusicLobby 3.04 documentation (updated 10/22/2006).

10/23/2006 Public Beta for MusicLobby 3
Here is a download for MusicLobby 3 MusicLobbyserver.ocx and an update for MLMediaCenter MLServer3 plugin. Both need to be replaced. Fixes some zone elapsed time tracking. All J.River zones need to be configured as either Internal Volume control or System Volume. For most purposes, Internal Volume will work best to keep each zone with independent volume control. Exception would be if you are using a controllable amplifier for volume control.

This is an Update build, not a full release:
10/22/2006 Public Beta for MusicLobby 3
Here is a download for MusicLobby 3 MusicLobbyserver.ocx backup your current version as this is a Beta that has had limited testing so far.
See above link for latest build
You must already have installed the full MusicLobby 3 installation. This just updates the J. River Plugin, so should be run with J. River shut down, and on the PC(s) that J. River MC is installed on.

What's new:
Adds current song duration and percent complete.
Fixes syntax issue with Synch.
Updated docs that speak to different volume control strategies and the syntax for the above two changes.

If there is a "soft release" I'd be willing to buy it now...

I missed the cutoff for the free upgrade by 2 days :( [purchased June 28th].

Add an additional Media Center Server
(Requires at least one MusicLobby 3 prior purchase)
Price: US $59.99

Add 3 additional Zones to ALL Media Center Server(s)
(Requires at least one MusicLobby 3 Media Server)
Price: US $59.99

I may not be upgrading at these prices. With my current 5 zone setup, the cost to upgrade will be $80!

Upgrade from MusicLobby 1.95 to MusicLobby 3

Postby surge » Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:18 am

I don't have Mainlobby 3 and don't really want it since all I really use is MusicLobby (aside from the MLServer Slink-e plugin to control 3 amps from within MusicLobby).

Do I have to upgrade Mainlobby to be able to use MusicLobby 3? In other words am I just looking at a MusicLobby upgrade or do I need to upgrade Mainlobby too? Will MusicLobby 3 work with the Mainlobby and MLServer version (pre Mainlobby 3)?

yes, MusicLobby 3 (and all other products recently released and all future products) require MainLobby Server 3. MLS3 has technologies built into it that MLS1 did not that MusicLobby 3 requires. The faster image processing is due to MLS3 processing the images instead of the Flash Client, which is slower (one example). The licensing is also managed by MLS3 as well for all products.

Windows 2000 MusicLobby clients

Postby surge » Tue Aug 29, 2006 8:33 am

Thanks Smoothtlk.

I found the MusicLobby 3 requirements only after your message. It also mentioned Windows XP - one of my 3 clients is an old Win2000 notebook. It's actually dedicated to MusicLobby right now. Is the WinXP requirement real, or is it just that nobody has tried it on Win2000? It's going to be quite a while before I upgrade that notebook, so I am leaning towards not upgrading to MusicLobby 3 until then...

Here's a sample scene that shows a Now Playing screen and control of those zones using transport controls. Just select the Zone buttons on top of the cover art to allow the transports control over that zone.

We've created some custom graphics for this scene that will be included in a future release of MainLobby 3.

Using some of the newer capabilities of MLServer 3, we're able to constrain the images to a specified width and height.

Did you say you would be sharing that marvelous piece of scenery?

I meant the MLS of course!

All my ML3 tablets run Windows 2000, runs perfectly.

Mario, didn't know you were an NSYNC fan :? Can't wait for the extra graphics in the next update. Are we going to get a contact sheet showing what each of the new graphics/buttons are and what they do?

See the first post for a public Beta version for MusicLobby 3. Details and download links in that post. Also download the lastest documentation (link in first post).
