Synchronize Zones

Postby Funboy » Sat Sep 08, 2007 7:49 pm

J River Media Center has the option of being able to synchronize a particular zone with another zone or even synchronize all zones with one zone.

Is that feature available thru MusicLobby or the MLMediaCenter? If not, could it be?

Wiki is GOD

That damn Wiki is amazing. Me thinks I gotta go there first...

Smooth, thanks for politely reminding me to RTFM...or in this case RTFW ;-)

Zone Toggle

Postby oaserani » Fri Aug 29, 2008 11:18 am

Foks -- I'm trying to emulate the Ctrl-T behavior in MC12 (it toggles zones), so that the display on the MC12 will change on what's playing, but will continue to play both zones. As the display is also routed to my LCD flatscreens, I would those to reflect the behavior by sending commands which I thought worked...apparently they don't.

MLServeCMD.MLMediaCenter|MuLServerName~zonename or zonenumber~NEXTZONE

MLServeCMD.MLMediaCenter|MuLServerName~zonename or zonenumber~PREVZONE

Per the wiki -- but they don't seem to do anything, sent them both from MLServer and from a client, but nothing

oaserani

The MLMediaCenter commands will not flip the zone being displayed in MC.

The only way to do that is thru the Play menu or CTRL-T.

And there is a way of assigning a shortcut directly to the zone. So for example CTRL-1 would bring up zone 1, and CTRL-2 would make zone 2 active in the MC display. I don't remember exactly how to do it. Do a search in this forum and on the JRiver forum.

I then coupled this with MLWindowFunctions. With that I was able to give focus to MC, and then send it a keyboard shortcut to switch to the zone I wanted to view.

Hope that helps.

Zone flip

Postby oaserani » Tue Sep 02, 2008 5:06 pm

Funboy -- thanks. That would work if MLServer and MediaCenter were on the same box. They are on different ones. Homeseer and MLserver and a couple of other packages redline that box pretty often, so I can't risk MP3s starting to skip when playing, so all the MP3s and pictures are being served from another computer. I guess I could install another copy of MLServer there and redirect commands to it? I've never tried that, but it sounds hairy.

I previously ran another copy of MLServer (0 license copy) for that same purpose. Worked perfectly.

You can buy a zero client license MLServer (http://www.cinemarsolutions.com/mlserver.html)

Redirection is done with a simple addition to the MLServeCmd:

MLServeCmd[<server_name>]

e.g. MLServeCmd[remote_server]

Optionally you can replace server_name with an IP.
