Compacting Database

Postby jjjukebox » Sun Dec 19, 2010 3:30 pm

I recently was doing a system backup and noticed that commands.mdb had creeped up to 1.8GB. I did a compact and repair and reduced it to 7.5mb. It contains just under 40,000 variables and 2500 command maps.

Is there any tool available to automatically compact the database without manually opening it in access and doing a compact& repair?

Thanx

There is a tool by Mircrosoft called http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295334 , but I haven't tried it.

Also, I think the next version of MLServer is going to use SQL server from what I think I remember hearing so it may be irrelevant soon.

Thanx BD

I may as well wait to see what MLS4 looks like as I am sure it is not far out.

David,

Dont use MLWMI and that post also states it only does the databases in the MLServer\data directory. Command.mdb is in the root MLServer directory.

Thanx for the reply

Don't worry about this. MLS4 will make this issue go away.
