Object variable or With block variable not set

Postby fcwilt » Wed Nov 03, 2010 8:32 pm

Fresh install of latest MLServer under Windows 7 Pro (32 bit)

The server starts up without errors but when I try to execute most any command (see fragment of log below) I get these two errors:

11/3/2010 9:19:17 PM Push [1] MLServeCMD.SetVariable|fcw_1~5
11/3/2010 9:19:17 PM Server PushCommand Error at line #70 - Object variable or With block variable not set
11/3/2010 9:19:17 PM Pop [1] MLServeCMD.SetVariable|fcw_1~5
11/3/2010 9:19:17 PM System tmrCmd_Timer Error at line #130 - Object variable or With block variable not set

Any ideas?

Did u turn UAC off BEFORE installation of MainLobby / MainLobby Server?
If not, turn it off, and install again.

Uninstalled everything related to MainLobby.
Double checked setting of UAC.
Downloaded most recent MLServer.
Installed.
Same problem.

Your PC is missing the MSComCtl.ocx file or it is not registered properly. The installer for MLServer will try to put this file into your Windows\System32 folder along with a lot of other support dlls and ocx files. Not being an administrator or having UAC turned on will mess up the install. You need to track down why the ocx is missing or invalid. Are you running some form of anti-virus software that is running in overkill mode preventing you from writing to the system32 folder?

I had a problem once before with this file.

The version I have is 6.1.98.13.

Quite some time ago, on another install of MLServer, you "remoted" in and installed an older version of this file, which worked.

This was a new install of MLServer (on a new computer) and I assumed by now you had addressed this problem.

What version of the file is known to work? I have older versions of Windows (XP, Vista) up and running on other hardware - perhaps I can use the file from one of them.

Thanks!

MLServer has been compiled and tries to install version 6.1.97.86 of the ocx file. You've got a newer version. If possible. rename your existing ocx file and then reinstall MLServer. It should then install the ocx file it likes. Email me your newer version of the ocx and I'll test it here and incorporate it into the MLServer installer.

OK I'll see if that works and get back to you.
