Email on Variable change

Postby maik » Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:44 pm

Let me apologize for asking this question before I ask this question, how do I send an email when a variable in MLServer changes?

I do not think it works. I know it was on a list of things for Dave to look at. It may have been repaired as I have not attempted it in some time, but I would guess not.
Thanks!

I use the following to send a text message to my phone based on a variable change:

SendMessage|my.name@myisp.net~##########@text.att.net~Important Notice From Home~{{system_notify_message}}

Maybe you could play around with this and get it to send to your email. Substitiute my.name@myisp.net with your email address.

Do exactly with Ricks posted in an automation rule.

I could never get email to work due to outgoing sign ons, non-standard ports and so on. As Rick said, texting has also worked for me in the past.
Thanks!

That being the case, how do you send out via specific port? Is it documented?
Thanks!

Why would you need a specific port? MLServer will relay the email message through our server. Does your ISP block outbound email traffic on port 25?

Yes- Comcast will not allow port 25 as they are so afraid of people running mail hosts on non-commercial connections. It is all about the revenue. They use port 587 for example.
Thanks!

MLServer sends outbound mail on the non-standard port 1501. It should not be blocked.

Well, the only way is to test it, which I will do. I will let you know.
Thanks!
