stopped working and saving

Not sure what happened, but my mlcav66 and mlcx777es settings wont save. ALso, I cant get MLhoroscope and weatherlobby to display information. I tried removing all programs then reinstall, but same problem. My guess is that ml worker is not talking for part of the problem, but cant figure out the rest. I have save server variables on close checked as well.

Do you see anything interesting in the MLServer verbose event log? Do you see any activity in the MLWorker Agent event log? Reinstalls will not overwrite existing databases. Try renaming the CAV database and see if you can save settings to the new database.

I deleted all files in C:\program files\mlserver. Nothing was there to over wright. I also dont see any activity in MLworker at all. tried renaming data base and reinstall, same issue.

just noticed in the mlserver plugins, that numbers were being left off of some of the plugin settings. Ie. on cx777es plugin, cx1 just said cx, and the mlworker pluging port should have been 6295 but said 629. I fixed and will post.

A Microsoft update has hosed your registry.

Close all Cinemar Applications
Open RegEdit
Goto to HKLM\Software\Cinemar
Export the Cinemar registry hive to a file.
Delete the Cinemar Registry hive.
Close RegEdit
Find the file you just exported.
double-click it to reload the registry.
Restart the Cinemar software

that fixed the problem, but when I exit mlserver and restart, the settings are changed again.

mlworker port says 629, should be 6295
cav dropped comm port settings lost
cx777es comm port settings lost and alias name changed from cx1 to just cx

please advise.

It's the registry being flipped into Unicode mode or something like that.

Open the reg file you exported in Notepad. Do a save as and make sure the file is saved in plain text mode and not unicode. Delete and reimport the registry. See if it helps.

if I export the registry and open in notepad, I have the option of saving as

AHSI
Unicode
Unicode big endian
utf 8

so.....

didnt work. Seems when I make the changes, it doesnt record in the .mdb file either. I deleted the entire registry for cinemar in regedit and reinstalled all plugins. Set up all, closed and restarted. Same problem.

I have tried multiple times now with same results. I can export reg in regedit and/or mlserver. I open file in notepad and save as plain text. I delete registry keys for cinemar. I double click saved registry and everything looks to be right. I then stop/exit server and restart and the setting are still missing. They show up correctly in the registry keys. It seems as though mlserver is not reading the registry correctly.

The best I can offer is to remote into your MLServer and have a look. Something has changed on your PC that is preventing MLServer from reading the registry correctly. Send me your LogMeIn info.
