New Plug-In Problem?

Postby T.Wells » Fri Sep 21, 2007 8:25 pm

Hello-

I updated the MLLighting and the VideoStorm drivers tonight and noticed perhaps a new problem or two within MLServer. I saw these to after after the re-started MLServer after the install.

Prior to the install, I manually deleted teh MLMatrixSwitcher and VideoStorm files in the MLSever directory (I think there were 4 in total but at least 3 dll's).

Now, when I manually toggle insteon lights, I am getting a PLC error that states something about in outgoing and incoming sync. It is a long error code that appears as a pop-up box with a few lines of text explaining the incoming and outgoing PLC sync error. If you need the exact error and/or logs. Let me know.

Also, the CRM84 settings show 4 inputs and 8 outputs in the Alias screen. Perhaps these items are reversed?

Thanks,
T.Wells

Yeah, that error code happens when MLSwitcher gets hung up since the MLLighting plugin keeps chugging along forever.

Do you get a type mismatch and an EmptySwitcher dialog box right after it or hidden behind the MLServer window.

Thanks Big.

Do I need to worry about these error codes? Will they go away?

I did see a type mis-match error once but I removed MLLighting, the PLC, and MLSwither stuff and re-installed the them one by one.

I didn't notice it the second time but perhaps these were in-fact hidden by the MLS window.

Try unplugging the videostorm and plugging back in and then restart MLServer. See if the error goes away. This is the problem I am having every so often.

It would be helpful to see error logs when these things occur.

Mario,

I'd be happy to provide them but I am still kinda new.

When you say, error logs, are you asking for the text file generated within the MLServer directory? :?:

In the future, I'll always post one, I just want to make sure that I am posting the right file.

Thanks,
T.Wells

No prob.

In the MLMatrixSwicher plugin there is an option to VIEW LOG. Click this then check the LOG TO FILE checkbox. This will save the mlmatrixswicher log to the logs folder of MLServer. There may be some crazy characters coming in or something.

Are you guys using USB > Serial converters or straight serial connections to your PC?

Todays update to the VideoStorm driver fixes this one.

I've received this error both ways. Serial and USBtoSerial.

Logs along with steps to repeat would be helpful, as well as the exact error.

Error Information

Postby T.Wells » Mon Sep 24, 2007 1:20 pm

Mario,

I am not using a USB adapter and only use a serial cable straight to the PC.

Also, in terms of repeating, there is really nothing to it. The errors only occur when starting MLServer.

To re-create the errors, I exit MLServer, let it close, double click the MLS short-cut and both pop-up when MLS is loading the plugins.

The first error in a pop-up window reads as follows:
VideoStorm
Run-time error '440': Application-defined or object defined error

The second error is as follows:
InsteonPLCControl
Runtime - 2147417843 (8001010d)
Automation error
An outgoing call cannon be made since the applications dispatching an input-synchronous call.

The log within the VideoStorm plug-in is essentially blank. All that is there is
Switcher
'1' then an 'S' followed by 'STAT' (all on one line in the proper columns).

The event log within MLServer shows the following error:
Error #440- Automation error on server_theater-pc_number of clients setting 1 raised by SetVariable.

I hope this helps. I'd love to send screen captures and files but my server only has a touch screen and the Bluetooth keyboard does not work at this distance. In this way, it kinda sucks to work on my setup as not having a reliable keyboard or mouse can make things difficult. :(

T,

What happens if you unregister MLLighting and then restart MLServer?

MLServer loads without any errors. It appears that this may be the conflict.

Just to be clear. I did not install the new plugin and my error has gone away just like last time. To get rid of it initially I simply would unplug the videostorm and plug it back in and then restart MLServer.

I've never gotten Wells first error message, but I have gotten the sync IO error message on the PLC. I also removed my PLC since I am using the PLM and don't need the PLC. Once I did that, I have not received any more errors so I don't have any logs.

However, when I did receive errors perviously it didn't matter if it was standard serial or USB/Serial converter.

PLC Error

Postby T.Wells » Tue Sep 25, 2007 12:55 pm

I noticed last night that my PLC will not work at all within MLS.

I don't have a PLM and don't plan to dish out the cash now for a PLM and Plug-in so I'll have to wait for a fix.

Thanks for the update Big.
