Best way to display backups

Postby chuck99z28 » Mon Dec 24, 2012 7:36 am

I use Arconis True Image home to backup several PCs in my house to a master backup share on a server.
(Happens to be the same server running MLserver.)

In total, there are five PCs doing weekly full backups and daily incrementals.

What I'd like is a screen on my MLclient to show me that all the daily backups are successful.
Acronis has several notification methods. It will send an email to an account or you can configure a pre/post-backup command.
The Pre/Post command configuration allows you to select a executible file on the local drive, with working directory and arguments.
So I could run a batch file to write to a text file, or just abut anything else.

Though the email option seems to be the easiest to set up.

So I'm looking for ideas or plugin suggestions, to display a list of emails or display something else.

I suppose I could append a html page and display it with weblobby.

Any suggestions?

I ordered the outlook plugins. I figured I'd try that first.

It is also possible to pass MLServer commands as arguments to the MLServer exe. This way external applications that are capable of running batch jobs or apps can send commands to MLServer. The argument can be any valid MLServer command. Something like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Cinemar\MLServer\MLServer.exe" "Macro|SetVariable|PC1_Backup_Status~Success!SetVariable|PC1_Backup_Date~12/24/2102 3:00"

Is there a agent or client that does the same thing?

So when Arconis runs on a remote PC, I can send those arguments to the server?

No, is Acronis capable of opening a telnet session? If so it could telnet commands to MLServer.

Or you could send commands in via the web interface

http://<<MLSERVER IP ADDR>>:6296/command?Macro....
