Same deal as before. The plugin is sending data out the comm port but it is not receiving anything. I'll have to make some changes to the plugin to see what is going on. The communication routines are the same that are in the CX777ES plugin so I was expecting them to work. Must be something small that the plugin is doing wrong. I'm traveling right now and will not be back in my office until Tuesday. I'll post an updated plugin then.

As one of the more vocal proponents of this plug-in, I would love to help test it. Unfortunately, I am relocating for my job and most of my system is in storage. Bad timing. :(

I do appreciate everyone's efforts and will "jump in" as soon as I have the means to do so.

If you want this plug-in to suceed we need multiple testers in different environment and setups testing the heck out of this thing. Where are all the individuals that looking for this plug-in now??? It's here, lets start testing.

Sorry, my .02 for what it is worth.

It's unfortunate - but we see it time and time again with many plugins.

This needs to be a Null Modem right? same as what we use for the 777 changer...

Correct, according to the documentation this should be using a "Null Modem" cable just like the DVP-CX777ES.

Right... Ok..
So I have two questions and a statement.
I am running my str-da4es on com2 I have tried the "test power" button with the receiver on and off and noting happens. Now I would like to post my logging log, but...
One: I enabled logging and I am unsure how to post my log.
Two: I have ES-presso and am able to turn off the receiver change the volume and the input, But should I be able to turn the receiver on?

Thanks

Hey Dave,

Would love to beta this plugin, is there a beta section on the forum, if so. please add me to it.

I have the sony 7es, I know from reading the sony docs that the receiver ships with rs232 disabled by default. You have to enable rs232 through setup functions to get the unit to return info. I don't have my paperwork in front of me, when I get home tonight I'll pull it out and post how to turn on the Sony's 232 port.

Here are the begining of docs for the MLSonySTR plugin.
If you find the serial port turnon info, can you post it here?

anyone abte to get the Setvolume to work?

This is the command I am using, and i get no change
MLServeCmd.MLSonyStr|SetVolume~1~70~SonyDa4

But this command works
MLServeCmd.MLSonyStr|VolUp~1~SonyDa4

also the set input is not working
MLSonyStr|SetInput~1~DVD~SonyDa4

any clues?

MLSonyStr|SetVolume~Zone~Volume~[ReceiverAlias]
&
MLSonyStr|SetInput~Zone~Input~[ReceiverAlias]

These commands do not work for me either.

Also, there are no variables being populated in MLS.

I have not had a chance to test every command, but I will tonight.

On a side note -

AV.[ReceiverAlias]|Mute~Zone~State
does not work, but this command does:
MLSonyStr|Mute~Zone~State~[ReceiverAlias]

Maybe this has something to do with no variables being created. Is there a family plugin that is required for this plugin to work.

P.S. David, I found my docs pertaining to turning on the 232 port, I have never posted anything to the Wiki - If I post them in the forum, would you mind moving them to the Wiki ? I don't want to mess anything up.

Erik,
Fear not...
Just create a wiki forum account and use your same forum ID for consistency.

Then, go to the page and click Edit.

Then, copy / paste the info.

You will find that you have to either put a <BR> at the end of each line, or just hit the enter key that appears to double space in Edit mode, but when you Save, it will look like two lines with normal seperation.

If you run into trouble, I can edit the doc.

David,

I have added the Sony documentation to the Wiki, you might want to check it over & perhaps make it look a little neater.

Sorry, it was my first addition to the Wiki.

To all interested.

I have tested the following commands, with results for each.

MLSonyStr|GetStatus~Zone~[ReceiverAlias]
Does nothing as I have no variables being populted in MLS.

MLSonyStr|GetVolume~Zone~[ReceiverAlias]
Does nothing as I have no variables being populated in MLS.

MLSonyStr|SetInput~Zone~Input~[ReceiverAlias]
Does not work.

MLSonyStr|Mute~Zone~State~[ReceiverAlias]
Works as expected.

MLSonyStr|PowerOn~[ReceiverAlias]
Works as expected.

MLSonyStr|PowerOff~[ReceiverAlias]
Works as expected.

MLSonyStr|SetVolume~Zone~Volume~[ReceiverAlias]
Does not work.

MLSonyStr|VolUp~Zone~[ReceiverAlias]
Works as expected.

MLSonyStr|VolDn~Zone~[ReceiverAlias]
Works as expected.

MLSonyStr|GetSFStatus~[ReceiverAlias]
Does nothing as I have no variables being populated in MLS.

MLSonyStr|SetSF~SoundField~[ReceiverAlias]
Works as expected.

MLSonyStr|SFMode~Mode~[ReceiverAlias]
Does not work.

MLSonyStr|GetTunerStatus~[ReceiverAlias]
Does nothing as I have no variables being populated in MLS.

MLSonyStr|SetPreset~Bank~Preset~[ReceiverAlias]
Does not work.

MLSonyStr|Tuner~Command~[ReceiverAlias]
Works as expected.

As you can see, I have partial control of my Sony STR-DA7ES receiver, but I have no 2-way control as MLServer fails to populate any of the variables specified in the Wiki.

I would love to have this plug-in functiong fully and would be happy to test any further releases/updates.

Please let me know what I can do to help.
Erik
