CX777 USB to serial adapter

Postby johnj » Sat May 09, 2009 10:44 pm

I have read the othere post about USB to serial adapter and they don't get all the way to my question. My old computer died and the new machine did not come with a serial connection so I bought a USB to serial adapter. The adapter works and turns the sony on but I have to push the test button two or three times before it works. I checked the buad rate and it is at 9600. In the log below I had to push 4 times.

Is this what you get with the serial connection or is there a way to adjust this to make it more reliable?

John,

Not sure about the usb timing, but I have a serial connection and it works without fail everytime. I'll check my logs for you tonight.

Russ,

Thanks for looking into this. I have played with the port settings and it works great to select movies, evens seems faster than before. But it still does not power on with one button push.

I am having the exact same issue that you have described. I can get the play movie command to power up the unit and start the movie but only after repeatedly sending the command. My problems began when I upgraded to a Windows 7 machine and then went through several supposedly "Windows 7 compliant" USB to serial converters before finding one that would actually load drivers and created multiple com ports. I did not see a solution provided to your problem. Where you able to come up with one by changing the port specifications (like baud rate). Any help appreciated. Thanks.
