CX777ES Question

Postby Blade » Wed Apr 16, 2008 7:50 am

I bought a global cache and a CX777ES changer. I need to know what null modem serial cable I need to connect from the global cache to the 777 changer.

Is it a male to female, male to male, female to female?

Also, is a null modem serial cable the same as a regular serial cable?

TIA

there aren't any "regular" serial cables.

there are Null and Straight Thru.

According to the Wiki, the CX777ES takes a Null.

There are adapters to convert from one type to another available at Radio Shack et al. But, always recommended is to use the correct one for one less set of connections to get loose.

Cinemar sells the appropriate cable as even cables that meet the definition of Null, sometimes still don't work (though not common).

The problem is I dont have my global cache or CX777ES yet but I am trying to get the correct cable for it so I have it when they get here.

The global looks like it has a male db9 on it, so one end of the serial cable has to be female. On the 777 is it a db9 male or female?

I need to know if what gender the serial cable has to be to plug from the global cache to the 777 changer.

Looks to me like I am seeing "pins" on the back of the CX777ES.

so, sometimes I get this wrong, but that should mean a Female DB9 at the CX side.

Thanks Smooth. Looks like a female to female null modem cable :)
