MLYamaha commands versus actual amp options

Postby monteourdog » Wed May 23, 2007 2:50 am

Good day to all,

I have been working out of the country off and on for the past year and in that time I have been laying out my system. Mostly, I am able to do this based on a schematic of my system but recently I purchased the Yamaha 5990 and even more recently, MLYamaha. Since I do not have access to my amp right now, I am reading through the documents for MLYamaha and I am a bit confused.

I know my amp has the audio options (input mode):
Auto, HDMI, Coax/Optical and Analog
But the plugin has these for options:
Auto, DolbyRF, Analog, DTS, Digital and AAC

Can someone decipher which of the plugin settings are for my amp, the 5990?

And while I have your attention, I am also a bit confused with the input. This is a little more straight forward, but I have a problem with a few. The 5990 has a combined input labeled:
SAT/CBL, MD/TAPE and DVR/VCR2
But the pluging has these as separate options. If I enter:
MLServeCmd.MLYamha|Z1Input~SAT~1
or
MLServeCmd.MLYamha|Z1Input~CBL~1
Will either take me to the input CBL/SAT?

Hope someone can help!

Thanks!

MLYamaha commands versus actual amp options

I am not familiar with the 5990; I own an RX-V2500.

I don't know what to tell you on the input mode, except that you should only need to implement 'auto' to accept a digital signal if one is available, and analog if you wish to force analog. If the 5990 will D/A out to zones 2 and 3, you shouldn't even need the analog option.

The CBL/SAT on the 2500 are combined, like the 5990. Either command will activate that input.

I'll post some skeleton scenes, web pages and macros for your review.
