RS232 Communication issue

Postby Scott » Wed Sep 30, 2009 1:48 pm

I've been going through the FAQ, WIKI, and forum, but I still can not send a MLServeCmd to a CAV6.6 I verified on the front that the serial switch is set to to rear serial port. I'm guessing you took out the serial baud rate, parity, etc from the CAV66 plugin because all I have for options is the Com Port #. We are using a MLS-1000 computer and I have verified that I'm using Com port 6. I tried two different serial cables and the second one I know works from earlier tests. I also verified that the Russound is set as Unit 1. I am showing messages in the MLCAV66 log when I send a command like All zone power on/off and zone power on/off.
Every few minutes I get messages with:
Got[GetTOV~1~1]
Got{GetZone~1~1]
repeat to
Got[GetTOV~1~6]
Got[GetZone~1~6]

I'm onsite.

Thanks!

The CAV plugin will default to 19200 as the baud rate. Make sure the CAV is configured for that baud rate. The log tells me that you are not seeing any data coming back from the CAV. A mismatched baud rate my be the cause.

I think I have the same issue. Any insight as to how to change the baud rate? Can that be done via the keypads?

I'm having a similar issue. The port is set to 9600 which is what it was on my old system (that worked fine) but all I get now is the info below. No variables get populated and nothing seems to work.

the com port baud rate is set on the computer that the cav is attached to. Go to "device Manager" scroll down to "ports (com &lpt)" expand the tree and double click the com port you want to address. A new box will show up. Click on the "port settings" Tab and change the baud rate to 19200.

I narrowed it down to an issue with the port. I got it working on COM6 but not COM4.

Also, the port on my previous system was configured for 9600b and everything that I found online says that the COM port is 9600, the RNET port is 19200.
