TIP: Configuring your UNO-S2 Keypad to control JRMediaCenter

Configuring your UNO-S2 Keypad to control J RIVER Media Center

1) Make sure you've installed and properly configured the MLCav66 Plugin, J River and MLMediaCenter
2) Double click on MLCav66 from the MLServer Plugins Window
Let's assume you want the UNO-S2 keypad in Zone 4 and Source 3 to control Zone 1 of J River MediaCenter
3) From the Configuration tab of the MLCav66 Plugin select the PLUS symbol next to CAV66
4) Select the PLUS symbol next to Zone 4
5) Select the PLUS symbol next to Src 3
6) Select the PLUS symbol next to Uno
7) Select the text labeled Next
8) Paste the following into the MLServeCmd at the bottom where <<MuLServerName>> is replaced with where your J River computer name is running:
MLServeCmd.MLMediaCenter|<<MuLServerName>>~1~Next
9) Press Save
10) Repeat these steps for the following commands respectively: Play, Previous and Stop
MLServeCmd.MLMediaCenter|<<MuLServerName>>~1~Play
MLServeCmd.MLMediaCenter|<<MuLServerName>>~1~Previous
MLServeCmd.MLMediaCenter|<<MuLServerName>>~1~Stop
11) Start a song playing in J River MediaCenter and make sure you have the audio connected to Source 3 of the Russound. Once you can hear the audio in Zone 4 of your Russound Zone, select one of the four UNO-S2 keys we've assigned the command to.

NOTE: Make sure Allow MLServer Command Triggers is checked from the Configuration tab. If you want to use the UNO remote, be sure to check the box labeled Allow CAV Event Triggers

If you want all Zones/Source info to be duplicated, you can right-click on the Zone and select COPY ZONE. Then right-click and Paste to other Zones.

The other buttons can be assigned to any MLServeCmd supported, which could include Lighting, Arming your Security, Getting Weather temperature, etc.

Start a zone

Postby srik » Thu Feb 08, 2007 7:59 pm

Hi Mario

Thanks for the detailed message and it worked in the first go. Now I can do next, previous, stop, pause from UNO keypads. Is there a simple source (in CAV) to zone(in Jriver) association. What I mean is when I turn on keypad and choose source 1 for example on UNO keypad it should automatically start playing playlist associated with say Zone1 of Jriver. How can we accomplish this.

Thanks In Advance

To play a specific playlist in JRMC when you select a specific source on the Russound keypad we'll need to use the Automation Rules in MLServer.

1) Open MLServer
2) From the MLServer Variables Window, locate the variable: cav66_c1z1_source
3) Right click on the variable and select DEFINE/EDIT Condition to popup the Automation Rules window
4) Select the New Rule button
5) Click WHEN then Server Variable
6) Type cav66_c1z1_source in the Select Variable line
7) Select EQUALS in the Set Condition drop down
8) For Set Value - type 1 (This represents Source 1)
9) Press SET
10) Click on the THEN button
11) Paste the following with a minor modification for your server name and playlist name you created in J River - remove the <<>> symbols:
MLServeCmd.MLMediaCenter|<<MuLServerName>>~1~PLAYPLAYLISTNAME~<<playlistname>>
12) Press SET

Now every time you go to Source 1 on your keypad in Zone 1, it will start the playlist you specified playing. You can step and repeat this if you desire for each of the other Source variables in MLServer. This allows you to even have different playlists for family members depending on the Zone.

Mario -- just a heads up. The current cav66 plugin hasn't responded to UNO remote IR commands in a while. I believe Dave is working on a new version. Even with the "Allow triggers enabled", the plugin won't execute anything coming from the Remote. It will though, execute, if the buttons are pressed on the keypad.
