Keypad buttons on MCA-C3

Postby brettcp » Sat Jul 20, 2013 10:45 am

I just changed over from my old CAV 6.6 to a new MCA-C3 (which uses the MDK-6 keypads). I cannot get the keypad keys to trigger previous/next/play/pause events. Here is an example of a "Next" keypress log.. any ideas why this isn't triggering MainLobby properly? Thanks!

That's a normal message just not the one that the legacy plugin is looking for to trigger the event. Are you using MLServer 4? If so you could see if the V4 Russound driver sees the event trigger.

Ah.. ok, so it must be time for me to upgrade from the legacy CAV 6.6 plugin to the Russound v4 plugin, correct? This would require that I purchase the AV Family plugin.. correct? Thanks!

Yes and yes. As a CAV66 plugin user you qualify for the AV Family upgrade.

I was able to get my main power/volume matrix MLS scene updated with the new code for the v4 Russound driver, so I can now control power and volume from mainlobby again.. also, when I adjust volume/power via the Russound Keypads, mainlobby reflects those adjustments immediately which is great. The response seems to be quite a bit faster than it was on my CAV 6.6 :D

I am struggling to get the keypad buttons to trigger mainlobby events.. ie: I want to be able to press the next button on the Russound keypad and trigger musiclobby to go to the next track.. This was easy with the CAV plugin, but I can't seem to get this working with the v4 Russound driver.. When I press the Next button on the Russound keypad, this is what the driver logs:

ProcessResponse - Set Data Message [F0 00 00 7D 00 00 7F 00 02 01 01 04 07 00 01 01 00 00 01 00 0D 00 00 96 00 4E 65 78 74 20 53 6F 6E 67 00 1A F7]
ProcessResponse - Unknown Data Message Source Path 1/1@7/0/1/1

Any guidance would be much appreciated! Once I get one button programmed I'm sure I can figure out the rest. Thanks!

That unknown response was a data event message that should have displayed "Next Song" on the key pad. I've modified the driver to decode that message when it comes in. However, there should have been other events that preceded this. Was there? Or was this the only thing that happened when you pressed the button?

That was the only event logged when the Next button was pressed.. yes, the keypad did display "Next Song" (as it always does), but I still get the unknown event in the ML driver log. I just updated the driver and tried again with the same result:

7/24/2013 10:20:06 AM ProcessResponse - Set Data Message [F0 00 00 6C 00 00 7F 00 02 04 01 02 04 01 00 00 01 00 01 00 01 01 F7]

That is actually a different message than the previous one. I ran it through the RNet Analyzer is it doesn't give me any clue as to what it really means other than it is a one byte data message. It is probably related to the button in some fashion but there is nothing to go on.

Can you run an experiment? Log the Russound events to a file. Then go push each button on the keypad so I can see what RNet traffic each button push creates. Email me the event log after you run the experiment.
