"BabyLobby"

Postby DavidL » Fri Aug 11, 2006 9:26 am

A fun and practical mini project today, spurred on with the birth of my son this week. The parents found themselves forgetting when the last feeding time was so came up with this little method to help keep track:

On the 0019_nav_homepage.mls, I put a single line text button with this MLServecmd:
MLServeCmd.Macro|SetVariable|FeedDate~{{currentdayofweekshort}}~!SetVariable|FeedTime~{{currenthm}}~

Then, in the label field I put this command:
Last Feeding: {{FeedDate}} {{FeedTime}}

So, whoever gets the bottle from the kitchen, just walks by the in wall touchscreen and clicks the bottom of the screen and the Last Feeding Date and Time updates. This should hold us over until we figure out our new son's crys on what means food and what means hugs :)

Congratulations! Our son is 9 weeks old today, that's why I have had so little time to work on my ML3 interfaces. :)

Congrats David! As one who has a 20 year old and another that is 5 months, you are in for one heck of a ride.....By the way the audible alerts don't change as they age, they just become less intelligible.

Congratulations and thanks.

This is a command and explaination that makes real sense and helps me learn.

Should be in the Tips, Tricks and Tutorial's section. It's the kind of clear, concise and simple thing that really helps non-programmers like me - to GET IT!

Thanks.

I have a question about your awesome "Last Feeding" button...I also have a newborn boy and I was wondering how would you write that to a file to key a log..

I found viewtopic.php?f=86&t=14217&p=92788&hilit=mlwritefile#p92788
this post worked with the Script
MLScript|WriteFile~Write~C:\foo.txt~append~Hello<CR><LF>World

what would I write aftr ~append~ if I wanted to record the times from the last feeding

thanks

tntwebguy,
congrats to you as well!

Something like this might work:
Macro|SetVariable|FeedDate~{{currentdayofweekshort}}~!SetVariable|FeedTime~{{currenthm}}~!MLScript|WriteFile~Write~C:\program files\mlserver\logs\feed.txt~append~{{currentdayofweekshort}} {{currenthm}}<CR><LF>

If you really want to document, look into TChart:
http://talluscorp.com/mediawiki/index.p ... pplication

With TChart, you could probably figure out a way to graph when the little guy was fed and how consistent you all are. I am sure that went way over the top, but what the heck...

Enjoy!
