RFID reader?

Postby zxsix » Mon Sep 12, 2005 7:16 pm

I was thinking about using RFID to monitor home/away status of the vehicles and the kids.
We have the Mobil Speedpass rfid keychains on each set of keys.
Is there a reader that would pick those up as the person walked through the front door?

Yes, the Mobil gas pump reader can tell if you walked into the house. Might get a bit crowded with a pump in the hallway though. ;)
I doubt that you will find a easy solution to reuse the Mobil passes. I have the Parallax RFID reader and cards. The cards are the size of a credit card. There is a Homeseer script that works with it. I haven't plugged mine in yet but it's sitting right here on my study desk waiting to be dinked with.

The best solution is iAutomate's RFID cards and reader. Again, there is a Homeseer free plugin available.
