You should be able to post it here now that attachments are working. If it's too large, you're welcome to post it at my site.

MainLobby and the entire suite doesn't seem so expensive anymore does it? :)

... or at least it wouldn't if I had $10,000 bottles of wine and was considering a $5000 package to track them!

This once again illustrates why I say the Cinemar products are a relative bargain in today's market.

Heh - BoardGameLobby... Of course, I'd then have to build a games cabinet with a robotic arm that would serve up the game you selected. Hmm. >runs off to secret laboratory<

Seriously, though - I have about 180 board and card games in my collection. (And that's not counting my growing collection of RPG manuals.) Although I never really considered it before, it might be nice to have some sort of "guest friendly" database that contained the rules, strategy tips, history, etc. for each of the games.

Which takes us straight back to "DatabaseLobby"... what is really what is needed for SO MANY things.

I think Dave Evans' DVDQuery is a really good start on this. I think he could get it to be an Access Database Query plugin pretty quickly.

It's been voiced this way before, but I think the real "hot-ticket" would be a MySQL back-end with a plugin to make calls to it to bring things into MLS variables.

Of course, this will have us begging for array variables and a way to display an array of ten elements and return the value of the element selected...

You'll be happy to know I have started on the "DB Lobby" plugin this week plugin. I'm not giving out any dates as to when it will be ready, so don't even ask!! :D

It is actually a rather involved component to get it to work in a way that will be generic enough for a variety of applications. I imagine the first pass will require the user to be somewhat fluent in SQL, but as the development moves on I hope to build some sort of query "wizard" to help in the creation of things.

If anybody has any input or requests, now is the time to get them in (although I can't promise I'll be able to answer all of them)

Here are a few of the pieces I have been working on so far:

Ability to save queries to call by name.
Ability to return a specified "page" of the result set.
Mapping of both input and output parameters to and from ML Server variables.
Ability to use a mix of server variables and "execution time" variables.
Ability to serialize the result set into and out of server variables.

Again, it is in the very early stages so It will still be a while before it is ready for use, but it will definitely be a reality in the future.

Dave
