edit scenes erases mls file

Postby dreamhost » Thu Jun 22, 2006 2:53 pm

Here's the problem:
Not all the time, but quite frequently, when I am editing an mls scene, and click the save button the mls file saves as 0k in size.

At first I thought it only happened when trying to edit an mls file from a touchpanel thinclient, but that's not the case. I can't count how many times yesterday when I was doing all my work on the server that the file saved as 0k.

I read in other threads where people were having problems and it was suggested to edit with mlserver turned off. LOL that doesn't work as when your adding buttons and testing the variables like crazy, it sucks to have to close/open/close/open mlserver that often.

I've tried hard to figure out what I am doing that causes the issue, but can't seem to figure out why it does it sometimes and not others.

Thank God, I keep a complete backup directory at all times, as without it, I'd be screwed.

dreamhost,

Where are you saving all your MLS files to?

The Cinemar folder?

Try saving them there all the time to see if that helps. Then the next step is to try only saving using SAVE AS to see if that makes a difference.

I have mlserver in my E/program files/mlserver
I have cinemar in my d/program files/cinemar

save as makes no difference. It will save a 0k filesize.

One way I can confirm that it happens 100% of the time is if I have the mlgenericserial plugin settings box open while editing scenes.
While searching for my variables with the box open I tried to save a few times and it would give 0k filesize everytime. By closing that box out before saving the 0k filesize problem stopped.
I do know for sure that's not the only way to get 0k filesize, as it's happened to me so many times while not editing genericserial etc....

looked in logs but nothing shows up as an errror, so sorry can't help with that info....

What happens if you select Save As and provide a completely different name?

IT saves it correctly using save as...
even tried it with the command mapping window open...
So I can confirm that at least on my end the 0k file only happens using the save button.
