Very purty! :D

I've heard of people offering ML-based services, but that price on top of the screen looks like $2.9M! or is that for the whole house? That is an awesome looking house, BTW! I love that look. You want to make an even trade for a shack in Newport Beach with a view of Back-Bay?

I like how clean it is.

I really like the clean light screen look; the highlight when on is simple genius. Does the right-side thing flip through which group of lights are being controlled? If so, what method? What is the "Main Speakers" button? Just a link to another scene? Or something more interesting? :P

How are you doing the alarm clock? If it's a HomeSeer script, would you share?

How 'bout stuff on the "Entertainment" scene? Does all that launch into web screens? HomeSeer based or just direct?

Thanks for sharing!
:D

Hey Gregory,

Heh heh heh 8) Yea...sweet ski shack...took me 4 years to build, hard to part with a work of art. It is going to be an awesome score for somebody. Thanks for the kind words.

The whole look and feel came with "fitting it to the home"...slick, clean elegant. Took me months to get the look just right. One thing I did was flow chart the system out with PowerPoint which really steamlined the whole design process.

To accomplish this system I am using Homeseer, MainLobby, ActiveState PERL, and my own corporate server as a centralized data porting system.

Lighting Scene
I like it...quick visual reference and big buttons for stubby fingers. The Up/Down buttons on the right of the screen are audio volume for that room/zone and the "Main Speakers" button mutes the audio in that zone...in this case, "Main Speakers"...no magic. Same logic for all ML Scenes.

Alarm Clock.
Now THAT is something that has worked out very well. To create it you NEED to be running HomeSeer and Krumpy's plugin. I'll share it with you but give me a little time as I am still streamlining a few pieces of code.

Here's how it works. Besides the obvious of setting the time and am/pm with the buttons, the "Scene" options on the left work on a dynamic time delayed event sequence based in order of "if off if on". For example, If all of them are on, each event scene is time delayed off each other based in relation to the main alarm set time. If 1 or more event scenes are off, the rest adjust their time starts accordingly to compensate for the removed event(s). The wake up events can be anything you want them to be. "Snooze" resets the time of all currently active wake up events 15 minutes ahead and shuts down any lighting and music acordingly. I like waking up to the ski report and having HS force a scene change to the local mountain cams to check out the live conditions...."To Snooze or not to Snooze..."

Entertainment
Combination of web launches, homeseer scripts, data streaming and WebLobby. For example I have direct web launches to the local papers and such as well as Weblobby and HS scripting that displays or reads via TTS things like "what's going on in town"

Whistler...land of the Ski Gods ;) , I lived in Vancouver for a few years and Whistler was close by and I visited many times...beautiful place and I think most only dream of owning property up there!

As for Newport beach..I was there in May on business with the company, stayed down in Cardiff and Solana beach...thought they were all nice places...except for the traffic around L.A :-)

I also love the look of the house Kevin...amazing!

Kevin, I really like your lighting scene. I've tried all different ways to integrate sliders with visual feedback, and they've all turned-out too busy - too busy, in fact, for me to ever fully integrate into my system. Your approach is really elegant and has me rethinking how I'll approach it. I also like the color scheme you chose. It integrates well with the stock/default ML colors (the dark/black chrome of MuL, DVDL, WxL, etc.), whereas my stuff kind of sticks out to a slight overuse of colors. I think I'll redo everything in more subtle colors the next go 'round!

My only question is regarding the user interface. Don't you get people tha tare a little confused not knowing what is a "button" and what is not? You have the chrome style "raised appearance" style buttons that Mario (if I remember correctly) then there are the 2D style buttons. Do you undertsnad what I am asking?

Just wondering if this has presented itself as a question to users of your system?

Mike

Actually just the opposite. I've had many a comment on how simple and intuitive it is to use. Thanks for the feedback.

Alarm Clock

UPDATE: Oct 12 2005: Added a script AlarmClockSetDeviceValues.txt to set initial device values so script won't fault...
________________________

VB Script: Here it is...BUT I warn you to take your time setting it up and look closely at the screen shots in the setup doc. You will have to create the devices and events manually....sorry about that...

In the VB Zip file:
Program Files/Homeseer/scripts/AlarmClockConfig.txt............EDIT THIS FILE AS NEEDED...keep defaults if you can.
Program Files/Homeseer/scripts.AlarmClockOptions.txt.......... Don't edit.
Program Files/Homeseer/scripts/AlarmClock1.txt....................Don't edit
Program Files/Homeseer/scripts/AlarmClockCounter.txt..........Don't edit
HSMLAlarmClock.doc............................................................Screen Shots of Homeseer event and device settings
Program Files/Homeseer/config/text.xml................................sample Homeseer file as per my setup
Program Files/Cinemar/alarmclock.mls..................................MainLobby Scene
AlarmClockSetDeviceValue.txt - Run this once after you have created your devices to set the inital value properly.

Setup Word Do, Sample XML for Homeseer with the events and devices configed as per my system, VB Scripts that go into your Homeseer scripts directory.

The setup doc was done fairly hastily.
IMPORTANT: I would suggest keeping the default event names and device codes if possible. For the Snooze function, in the Counter file do a search for this " 'Turn the lights off if the snooze button is clicked.'" and edit the two field below. One will be your bedroom light and the other sends a STOP command to MediaCenter (If snooze, Lights OFF, Music OFF). Change if you want.

Enjoy.

Sorry about that everyone as you are all probably getting those fault errors. I've added a single script that sets the inital device values after you've create them all so the program won't fault.

Download the zip file and you will find it: AlarmClockSetDeviceValues.txt
Run it only ONCE after you have created the devices.

PS: If anyone is running Perl I"ve ported it and includes a completely automated setup for anyone interested.
