Ipod style screens

Postby pacman » Sun Jan 18, 2009 6:12 pm

Hi all

It's been awhile since I have been on here, I will be completeing a installation next month so I decided since getting a iphone and loving it I wanted to develope a line of screens that would reflect a ipod style

Here is a teaser even tho it's not finished I think it might show where I want to go with these screens. This is being made for the hp touch smart and then I will complete a 1024x768.

I will share them with anyone as long as they dont live in the Alberta Canada region because of competion. I should have them complete in the next 3 weeks and tested in the week after that. I will post more screen shots shortly.

now that logmein has an iphone app that allows you to remote into the desktop, these scenes may serve a dual purpose.

Hi All

I need some help this is the first time I am designing on a vista platform.

Problems I am seeing is when I save mls sceens I can see them if I open them through main lobby but I can see them if I navigate to the folder to try and see the list of scenes saved. I noticed a similar problem while saving graphics.

I am sure it's something pretty easy I am missing

Thanks
James

You might be being bitten by the Vista SP1 bug where folders do not automatically refresh. You have to manually refresh the folders or press F5. I have one Vista PC that this happens on but two other Vista PCs that do not have this issue. A Google search shows that lots of people are seeing this bug. Press F5 and if the files magically appear then welcome to the club.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the info I tried it and it didn't work, I also looked on the web for fixes and I can't get anything to make the files showed up. I am now hesitant to use the vista platform to create my screens. Is there a way to create the screens 1680x1050 on a display that is 1024x 768 with still having the ml menu bar usable?

Thanks
James

How about just designing them at 800x480 and then scaling up? You might try it. The quality might be good enough for your project.

Hi Mario

I tried things a few different way and I think I will end up making them at a 1024x768 res and strech them from there. They look fine and I will alter the scenes for anything that has cover art.

thanks all for the help any more ideas for anyone is appreciated

I changed the main scene.

Here is what the new style will look like, I am going to try and make the menu button slide in and out like an ipod by pressing the arrow keys at the bottom.

I am designing all screens at 1024x768 and I can make them go to 1680x1050 by using the following settings. They look really good when at the 1680x1050 format

x res 1680 x scale 80
y res 1050 y scale 63

x move 0 x- shift -150
y move 0 y shift -0

Hi Ken

I am just getting started to build these screens, as we just finished a home show. It looks like I will have alot of late nights ahead as I will need these done in the next 3 weeks. I just tryed the screens at 800 x 480 and they look ok the buttons are big enough to be used on that size of a screen and I will keep that in mind while I am designing.

FYI

Here is a list of hardware that I will be using that will be coded in the screens.

Audio Authority Matrix switcher
Russound cav 6.6
Elk M1 Gold Security System
WGL Rain 8 NET
UPB for lighting control
Energy Management (TED Hardware)
Sony CX777ES Changer
Net caller ID hardware
Global Cache
Thermostate (unsure what brand and model)
Security Cameras (unsure what brand and model)

I am sure there will be well over 130 screens when finished and I will be tring to incorporate alot of moving swf in the screens to keep them from being so static.

James
