quick, dumb question. please help

Postby donburkard » Thu Oct 08, 2009 6:55 pm

MLServeCmd.MLFileOpen|C:\Documents and Settings\Don\My Documents\mlalarmtestpage.txt

in this command where do i put the {{myclient3}} if i want it to execute the command only on myclient3. I know its a stupid simple question but i cant seem to find it in the wiki and every variation of it i try does not work. it just opens C:\ on the mlserver pc.

thanks for the help. Ill take my lashes now

MLFileOpen will only work on the MLServer PC.
You can install the zero client mlserver on that PC and then redirect the MLFileOpen request to that pc

Better than a MLServer 0 client install you can install the ClientSvc Agent on your client PC and then issue the command

Sys.{{client 3 alias}}|Send~Run~Notepad.exe~C:\Documents and Settings\Don\My Documents\mlalarmtestpage.txt

command. Requires the MLClientSvc plugin.

ok well, that said, i do happen to have mlserver 0 client as well as mlclientsvc. Im just trying to get a better grasp of the commands. lets skip notepad and move on to backscene.

please give me an example of the command that i would run to send myclient3 back one scene. My goal is to get better at the commands. i believe that is half the reason i have a hard time with some of the plugins. I simply dont know the language yet and i want to get good at it, or at least to a point where i can function without having to ask 8 million questions. I read thru the wiki but did not see any examples with a direction to a client in it, or if i did it was way out of my league and didnt know what i was looking at. I want to start out simple and work my way up.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help

(Literal)

MLServeCmd.MLCmd|{{clientname}}~MLBackScene

MLServeCmd.MLCmd|myClient1~MLBackScene
will both ways work?

In the wiki it says
MLServeCmd.MLCmd|{{clientname}}~MLBackScene

Dave says
MLCmd|MLCommand~{{ClientName To Send Backscene To}}~MLBackScene

Dave, you put an extra "~" between the "|" and the "{{Clientname}}. Why?

thanks for the help

Both ways will work. Dave posted an older method.

The newer one is shorter and easier to remember.

In your instance, you would send: MLServeCmd.MLCmd|myClient3~MLBackScene

This targets myClient3

Ok now lets say i want to play a song in itunes on myClient6 aka BEDROOM1, can it be done in mlscheduler? Keep in mind i have 0 client and clientsvc on BEDROOM1.

Better than a MLServer 0 client install you can install the ClientSvc Agent on your client PC and then issue the command

Sys.{{client 3 alias}}|Send~Run~Notepad.exe~C:\Documents and Settings\Don\My Documents\mlalarmtestpage.txt

whats the "Sys." for?
and
Where do i issue this command from?

Thanks

Not sure what you are asking...are you trying to time when a zone has it's audio turned on? MLScheduler (and MLSchedule) are to time events.

What's your end goal...don't talk about the software until you express what you want function you want to achieve.

I want to schedule music to play on one of my clients at a set time. I have music lobby but havent set it up yet, so i figure rather than tackling that huge task id start by simply getting an alarm clock to work.

You can do what you want with MLSchedule.
Here is info on it:

http://talluscorp.com/mediawiki/index.p ... ule_Plugin

Combined with one or more MusicLobby commands like:
MLServeCmd.MLMusicLobby|ActiveZoneNumber~Play

You can schedule MusicLobby to play as your alarm clock.
