Able to copy that exception (or get a screenshot)? Does the database still work in that state?

windows error reporting is catching it, appears to be an access violation in kernel32.

Will copy out the header from error reporting.

Database works fine, same as yesterday.

The only clue I can get from the tvlistings.exe log output is it says it has compacted the database, however the db file is not compacted, still functions fine.

So its is the compact or the whatever directly after the compact that is failing. Before the db is written back to disk.

I guess a debug build that doesn't compact the database is worth a try?

TVListings version 3.0.50

- Removed the extra debugging informations for the channel map and disabled the database compacting for it.

Hmm, and the MLServer log doesn't show the compacting this time, right?

Took a look at the exception being thrown.

STATUS_FLOAT_INEXACT_RESULT - exception 0xc000008f

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/232829

Seems VB is taking the resulting exception code and throwing this error via the SEH.

One of the functions being called is returning an error....now to work out which one.

Damn, entry in the DB 0-compactDB. Back tracked and I had replaced .49 with .49, trouble with doing this stuff at midnight!

Retrying with .50 in place!

Apologies.

Hmmm, well tvlistings log still says compacting database. No finished compacting database that I saw previously. Plugin log still shows 0 - CompactDB. However no crash.

Db is not compacted. Doing compact DB from within the plugin works OK.

So whatever you did resolved the problem at the expense of not compacting the Db.

From reading about the error I suspect the compactDb is returning an error code which is not expected in tvlistings.exe and throwing the exception.

Error is probably being handled in the plugin code correctly.

It's now officially late here so tbc. Many thanks for your updates today. We have made a lot of progress!

Many Thanks

Kevin

Indeed, I actually had the condition reversed... ;)

Starting to think that it's more an artifact of those successive updates than a real problem... ;)

Well, technically the TVListing is just calling MLTVLobby|ProcessListings, same as the plugin itself.

From reading about the error I suspect the compactDb is returning an error code which is not expected in tvlistings.exe and throwing the exception.

Probably something like "nothing to compact"... ;)

TVListings version 3.0.51

- Really disabled the database compacting when a channel map is used.

Yep, that no longer calls compactDb.

No longer crashes and the database is accessible, chalk another one of the list of todo's.

Wiki updated to reflect the uk/international stuff and to make it easier for first timers to get international stuff up and running.

Added some more info around using channel map including character limits imposed by the UI.

Added some info in additional info about using a small dataset for fault finding sessions.

Rgds
