xm feature requests

Postby jglitch » Fri May 28, 2004 12:25 pm

XM feeatures I'd like to see added:

Sleep Timer
Wake to Music Alarm
On/Off for each zone thru mrdia center
A mini player overlay/OSD w-tilte/station/on-ff/mute/vol for all scenes

After switching to favorite artist thru pop-up, when song is over, xmlobby returns you to your "original" channel.

Probably can do this thru hs and mainlobby --- ---- blankscreen/xmlobby screen(for song info) based on motion sensor ... room status ... wen your doing the whole house audio thing

Love it as is tho

The sleep timer can be done now via HomeSeer integration. You put your schedule in HS, and HS tells XM when to turn on / off. Same with wake timer.

Ultimately, you will be able to listen to your XM via MediaPlayer (from anywhere!) Probably (but not verified) from MC too.

If I remember right, the controls for XM Upgrade are usable outside the user interface so you could build this remote now (especially with 2.70b Mainlobby Overlay Scene controls).

Wake to Music Alarm

Add this macro into a schedule you establish in MLScheduler:

MLServeCmd.Macro|MLXMPCR|PowerOn!MLVolume|SetWaveVolue~50

That will turn your XMPCR on and set your system volume to 50%. You can substitute SetWaveVolume with whatever you use to change volume of the XM PCR (it doesn't have an internal volume adjustmet).

A mini player overlay/OSD w-tilte/station/on-ff/mute/vol for all scenes

You can build your own using MainLobby buttons.

Create buttons for:

On -> MLServeCmd.MLXMPCR|PowerOn
Off -> MLServeCmd.MLXMPCR|PowerOff
Mute -> MLServeCmd.MLXMPCR|ToggleMute
Volume -> However you control the volume
Channel Up -> MLServeCmd.MLXMPCR|ChannelUp
Channel Down -> MLServeCmd.MLXMPCR|ChannelDown

Create text fields for:

Artist -> Label = {{xmcurrentartist}}
Title -> Label = {{xmcurrentsong}}
Channel # -> Label = {{xmcurrentchannelnumber}}
Channel Name -> Label = {{xmcurrentchannelname}}

Voila.

The rest is on the list.

Second that last one. I'm going to make my Music Lobby and XM Lobby look nearly identical for switching between them so I can keep consistent with the "play music" idea... regardless of what that music source is. Gotta keep in the heads of the users... not the geeks.

Another request: if that little thing below the "Main" is the signal strength, right? I'd like the ability to specify which signal strength to watch. My signal on the ground is great - no reason to bother with the satellite, right?

How about a future option to look for the album on more than one purchasing source. A used source like Second Spin would be cool...

Next: any ideas where I might find the cover art graphic for the currently playing item? I'm thinking that it'd be preferable not to have the list of stations on the right all the time and it seems to me that the best way to deal with this is to dump the whole XMLobby.swf in favor of using variables. Ideas?

Uh... is it obvious that I just got the XM last night and am playing with this for the first time? Pretty cool stuff. Thanks, Dan!

I listen to the same XM station 85% of the time, really dont need the channel list either, so Ive already built my own XM Scene with variables Dan provided (going to do the same for musiclobby) and have already requested the info to change channels (favs)and have cover art on "My Scene"

To think someday I'll be able to answer ML questions, not just ask them!

XMLobby Visualization

Postby gfabiii » Thu Jul 22, 2004 9:21 pm

If there is not an Album Cover to down load from the NET could a
visualization play in place of the Album Cover.
