guigraphix linking

Postby cborod » Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:23 pm

Like we have in tvlobby, and internal link in the application to put the channel and its graphic together in a variable that can be used on screen dwesign.

For example, on my main home sccreen i can view the currently chosen media for a zone and view its now playing info. For XM, i'd like to show the xmchannel graphic from the xmlogos guigraphic library and have that dynamically change when the channels change.

Right now i just display a boring old channel number in text format.

Any response? :? Personally I think it's a good idea, and is congruent with the other media plugin (TV lobby) feature set. Heck it even makes the cost of the XM guigraphix library make sense....

ChrisB, XM is not on the immediate radar right now. We have a solution we have done some development on already, but it's not ready yet.

thank you....obviously hopeful it can move forward. it's a solid plug-in already, just a strong extension opportunity.

Chris,

You could pull off what you are trying to do using the internal tools of MLServer/MainLobby.

It would require that you use MLCycleStates

I would create a table that lines up with XM Channel Logos and Numbers.

So:
1 .. 3 would be blank
4 is in the Data Column
0017_xm004 is the label

Do this for each station.

Then Create an Automation rule that sends:
MLCycleStates|Set~XMChannels~{{xmcurrentchannelnumber}}

Where XMChannels is the name of the Table in MLCycleStates
We use the xmcurrentchannelnumber to jump to the appropriate row of the table.

You don't need to prefix the clientname in the XMChannels table since this is not client dependent but instead source dependent.

This will create a variable called: XMChannels_label = 0017_xm004 assuming you are on channel 4.

Now from your Scene Startup where the graphic exists - enter the following:
MLCmd|{{clientname}}~setProperty|graphic~stage~xmGraphic~{{xmchannels_label}}

Next for the XMChannel Graphic, put xmGraphic as your alias so the command above will know which graphic to change. This assumes the graphic is on the stage layer and not on an FX layer too.

You'll need to make your rule send this command as well to all clients.

Hope that helps. The table only needs to be built once and can be shared with others who might be interested.

Mario,

Any chance of an update to the XM Logo lib? There have been some new channels, some of the existing channels have changed names, etc. since the lib was updated last.

Just curious, because if I do set up this xmlogo cyclestates table it would be nice if the logos matched the current xm stations. :)

Thanks,

Ron

For now here is a link to the latest channel listing with logos in a pdf.

OK Here are the diff's as I see them. Some of the logo changes are minor, others are not. Plus a lot of new channels, and a bunch of changed names.
