Thanks MB,

I followed the Wiki which states to

1. Copy the MLPioneerVSX.dll file to the MLServer Plugins folder. This is typically located in the C:\Program Files\MLServer\Plugins folder.

And then I tried to register the dll and received the registration error.

When I loaded MLServer, the check box was already selected. So, I tried to open the settings in the plugins window by right clicking MLPioneerVSX and I received the Error#91 above.

I unchecked and then rechecked the box and received the following errors:
9/12/2008 7:47:55 AM Error cmdUnload/Reload for plugin MLPioneerVSX Error# 429 - ActiveX component can't create object raised by cmdUnload/Reload for plugin MLPioneerVSX
9/12/2008 7:47:55 AM Error cmdUnload/Reload for plugin MLPioneerVSX Error# 91 - Object variable or With block variable not set raised by cmdUnload/Reload for plugin MLPioneerVSX
9/12/2008 7:47:55 AM Error cmdUnload/Reload for plugin MLPioneerVSX Error# 91 - Object variable or With block variable not set raised by cmdUnload/Reload for plugin MLPioneerVSX
9/12/2008 7:47:55 AM Error cmdUnload/Reload for plugin MLPioneerVSX Error# 9 - Subscript out of range raised by cmdUnload/Reload for plugin MLPioneerVSX

I closed MLServer, deleted the MLPionneerVSX.dll, copied a new downloand of MLPionneerVSX.dll from the forum, and restarted MLServer and the Event log should the same four errors above during boot of MLServer and loading of MLPioneerVSX.

I'm not sure what to make of the four errors above...thanks for the idea, however.

FYI,
The PioneerVSX plugin was written by a user that has contributed his expertise to the community. Cinemar does not own or support this plugin.

From recollection of one of your earlier posts...I think you are running Vista? I am wondering if this plugin predated Vista and may not be compatible.

My hip pocket guess is that it may require a dependency file that is not installed on your system and therefore, the plugin isn't RegSvr32 correctly. Which dependency file is the question....

When MLServer starts up, if it's Options are set to do so (default), MLServer will attempt to do a RegSvr32 on all .dlls...basically what you are attempting to do manually. If it won't manually register cleanly, then I don't think MLServer will be able to do so either and you will get a MLServer error message (which I think you have posted).

Cinemar doesn't have the source code for this plugin so hopefully the original plugin author will read these forum threads and chime in...though that would strictly be up to him if he wants to do so.

We thank him for contributing his expertise that already has helped Cinemar customers who have systems that the plugin is compatible with.

As a test...do you have an XP PC that you can load MLServer on (30 day trial) and the MLPioneerVSX plugin on and see if that works? If this does, then you could use "MLRedirects" from your primary MLServer to this "zero client" license MLServer and get two way integration that way. Not pretty, but likely would work.

I do not have a computer running XP and that does not appear to be the issue per MB.

I am running the MLServer 3.0.557 which is the most recent in MLInstaller

Too bad Cinemar isn't supporting the plugin...nice receiver (VSX-84TXSi).

Well, I guess I hoping the original creator is still listening...

I think you should keep tinkering... There is no logical reason why it shouldnt be working...

I am running vista home premium.. and the same version of MLS as you..
how about this...

install in a completly new directory another copy of MLS.. run it... add the VSX plugin and see what happens...

obviously make sure the first copy is not running.

Potential success...

Turns out it was a simple mistake as a result of too many late night hours after longs days at work.

I had two issues: MLDirect and MLPioneerVSX - neither worked.

I had the Pioneer connected with the Belkin null modem and the Directv with the pass through.

As a result of going back to basics I connected them correctly: Directv with Belkin null modem cable and Pioneer with pass-through.

It's amazing what you can accomplish with some sleep.
MLDirectv connects and functions correctly
MLPioneerVSX connects but does not yet function - need to program commands - although I expect it to perform.

Anybody have a screen layout for the VSX-84TXSi I can use?

your last problem would be you need a null modem for the pioneer as well... took me 2 days to realize that....

hopefully I can save you some time...

I am about to retire my Yamaha non-HDMI receiver and get a Pioneer VSX-94THX to replace it. For those of you using this plugin, does it automatically poll the receiver or is it always listening to it so that if a change is made, the appropriate MLServer variable is updated?

For instance, if I went up to the receiver and manually turned the volume knob up, would the MLServer variable for the volume level get updated to the new level? Or do variables get set to new levels only when a MLServer command gets sent?

thanks,
Murray

It does update the variables. This is what I like about the Pioneer receivers. Just by pressing the buttons or using the remote sends the commands to the rs-232 port automatically without polling. BTW, I am the creator of this plugin and what is posted is a really old version of my code. Let me know if you would like an update. I changed the name to MLAV and added support for other features.

I ended up changing my mind and got an Onkyo SC-886P and separate amp instead. I have been working with Fonceur and have 2 way communication set up using the tallus MLComDevice plugin.

Thanks for the offer of help,

Murray

geislerk - just curious, what additional support have you added? I'm using your existing plugin with a Pioneer VSX-94THX and it works great.

Thanks

Does any one know if this will work with Windows 7 x64?
