High and Low Temp not populating

Postby DaveB » Tue Feb 09, 2010 1:03 pm

Dave;
I am tracing more issues to the weather driver. For no good reason, the daily high and low temps are not populating my scenes for any of the days. I have checked the variables, and all looks great,

{{mlweather_df{{D1}}_lotemp{{tempsymbol}}}}º~75~35

D1 is correct in the above example as is tempsymbol. The variable for example mlweather_df2_lotempf=25 has great data. What would cause this not to populate the scene (scene set 0028)? It previously was working. Where are you grabbing D1 and tempsymbol from??
Thanks!

My guess is that the tempsymbol variable does not equal f. Create the variable manually and see if that solves it.

I get a simular problem where the frequently the "current" temp variables dont populate but the next update they are there again.

Mine has been this way for a few days. I have done a restart with no change. I plan in killing the database and re-installing this weekend. I think that the DB got jacked up once more. This is the third time through this or similar issues. The start of this issue was when the driver decided to attempt to download every map in the sample set - 500 or so. It not only killed my MLS server but my entire network. It was after that when the temperature issue started.

Strange part is that if you look at the variables, they are correct. I just can not get anything on screen as above.

DaveP - know you are busy, but I would sure like to get some of you insight on this one.
Thanks!

Mario - I tried that along with making it a "C" with still no resolve.

First we need to see if your reporting station is sending this data. Look in your MLServer\Data folder and you'll see .XML files that start with "Adv". These are the Intellicast weather feeds. Open the .XML file associated with your zip code in notepad or any text editor. You should see something like the following.

Code: Select all

    <DailyForecast>
      <Day DayNum="1" ValidDateUtc="1/13/2010 12:00:00 AM" ValidDateLocal="1/13/2010 7:00:00 AM" HiTempF="57" LoTempF="41" HiTempC="13" LoTempC="5" ShortPhrase="Mostly cloudy" PhraseDay="Mainly cloudy. A few peeks of sunshine possible. High 57F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph." PhraseNight="Cloudy with a few showers. Low 41F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%." IconCode="69" SkyCode="28" SkyText="Mostly Cloudy" PrecipChance="30" SnowChance="22" RelHumidity="32" WndSpdMph="12" WndSpdKm="19" WndSpdKn="10" WndDirDegr="216" WndDirCardinal="SW" CloudCoverage="74" UvIdx="3" UvDescr="Moderate" UvWarn="0" Sunrise="07:35:00 am" Sunset="05:37:00 pm" Moonrise="06:30:00 am" Moonset="04:21:00 pm" MoonPhase="7" MoonPhaseText="Waning Crescent" />
    </DailyForecast>

Do all your values have entries or is the weather station leaving some of them out? Let me know if your XML looks any different that this?

DaveB,

From what I understand the variables are all correct in the server?

D1 = ?
tempsymbol = ?
mlweather_df1_lotempf = ?

resolving to this:
{{mlweather_df{{D1}}_lotemp{{tempsymbol}}}}

Mario;

d1=1

mlweather_df1_lotempf=20

You are onto it - temsymbol is missing. It was there the other day. It is set correctly in the driver setup screen. It is not populating the variables. Why would that not populate from the driver?

I just created it manually, and the scenes came back to life. Question is why does it keep going away? I am saving variables on exit and have the weather driver set to fast mode for variables.
Thanks!

DaveB,
I am wondering if the fast variables setting might have something to do with it. I remember in other plugins if the fast variables were selected it seemed to cause problems. I don't think that I am using the fast variables, and I haven't seen the problems that you are having.

Just a thought.

I was thinking the same thing. I am going to turn it off as a test and I will let it fly for a few days. I never have really understood what "Fast Variables" does different anyhow.

I also have turned all maps off as every problem I have had with the new version always comes back to the maps. Since I have done that, and except for the missing variable, all has been well.

DaveP - any comments?
Thanks!

As you can see, I never got a response to the variable missing issue or the map issues. I do not know why the variable came up missing. I did nothing to delete it. Two of my customers now have the exact same issue and I did the same with there systems. I minimized all map traffic, manually entered the variable and all came back. I still say it has everything to do with the map routine and the fact that the data source is not nearly as stable as was the Weather Channel. As recent as today, my Radar pop (the national radar map that works on the touchscreen) is dead for no good reason. Once more - it is a data issue with the source.
Thanks!
