Any way to filter Alerts?

Postby simonmason » Thu Jan 28, 2010 7:31 am

Is there any way to filter the alerts that display? In homeseer I have it setup to not alert me for certain types of alerts because they are just too much. For example - a Hydrologic Statement! I have had two of these for almost a week right now telling me that the water level at a reservoir about 50 miles from my house is 4.4 feet and that *NO FLOODING IS CURRENTLY FORECAST* - what a relief!! Thanks.

I checked these alerts and the endtime (10:01:29:23:04:00) and it appears that they are current alerts. So it the system is doing what it is supposed to. So how do I filter these out? My Alerts are permanently on right now with these useless messages from the weather service telling me that it is not going to flood a long way from my house! Thanks.

There is no way to filer these out. The plugin cannot tell if the alert is valid or useless.

I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I am not asking the plugin to read the content and pass judgment on the relevancy! I am looking to restrict the alerts by type, and ignore them. For example, Hydrologic Statements are not warnings - they are statements. A Flood Warning would be issued if the water level becomes an issue. If I am not mistaken there are statements, advisories, watches, warnings, and emergencies. By definition, a statement is not an Alert. Being able to filter by type would allow for more control over what is being presented and prevent the issue I have where the Alert is permanently on.

If it helps I have the following in one of my homeseer scripts that is checking for NWS weather alerts. In addition, the script has a setting where you can specify certain alerts that you don't want to receive - in my case I have it set to ignore: SHORT TERM FORECAST|RED FLAG WARNING|FLASH FLOOD WARNING|FLOOD WARNING|FLASH FLOOD STATEMENT|FLOOD STATEMENT|FLOOD WATCH - because I have found them to be too frequent and not really that informative. For example, the Flood Warning - I live on the top of a hill!
