Can't display MLTimer variables

Postby edentel » Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:54 am

I recently did my update rounds and brought the server and client up to current level. In the process I've somehow lost the ability to have the MLTimer variables display in the client.

I have a scene that is basically a sleep-timer to shutoff audio and lights. The scene still works perfectly HOWEVER the time remaining display shows nothing.

This text button SHOULD be displaying the value of {{192.168.0.10_timer__timehms}} however it shows as totally blank. If I check the server variables I see that variable counting down happily, the client just won't display it.

I've tried creating a new button and still no go. I've changed the button to other variable, which it displays fine. For some reason I can't get the timehms to display on a button in any way shape or form.

HELP!?!??!?!?!??!

Look in MLServer's variable window. Are the {{192.168.0.10_timer__timehms}} server variables being created? Are they being created with a differet IP Address or name? If you have upgraded did you make sure that MLServer / Tools / Options / Network / MLServer DNS name is valid?

The server variables are prepopulated with:
192.168.0.10_timer
and
192.168.0.10_timer01 through 192.168.0.10_timer64

When I kick off the 30 minute timer the 192.168.0.10_timer and 192.168.0.10_timer01 variables kick in as follows:
192.168.0.10_timer__state=1
192.168.0.10_timer__time=1637
192.168.0.10_timer__timehms=27:12
192.168.0.10_timer01_state=1
192.168.0.10_timer01_time=1637
192.168.0.10_timer01_timehms=27:12

Under Tools, Options, Netowork I have the server ip address 192.168.0.10 NOT a server name.

Taking the lead from your questions I changed the client MLServer Domain field and the servers "User Web Server DNS name or IP address" to the server DNS name and the field reappeared.

Any easy way for you to explain what's going on under the hood to make that matter? I can't figure out why using a DNS name rather than the IP address it resolves to should make that difference and it's driving me bonkers!

Thanks,

I've experienced the same thing. If the DNS name is set as the actual name of the PC/Server, then the timer displays correctly on MainLobby. If however the DNS name is different from the name of the PC/Server then the timer variable will never show on MainLobby.

Dave can you confirm this?
