MLServer Command Cheat Sheet

Postby DavidL » Sun Feb 08, 2004 8:05 pm

Attached is a file I have been using for a while as a scratch board for building MLServeCmds.
I use it to Copy / Paste into the MLServer command window to test commands.
I cleaned it up and organized it a little bit, but of course it could use some more. Commands listed as "Good:" are "proven" to have worked. Of course don't rely on that with your last dollar.

Feel free to add your own commands. I will update a master list with your additions and repost. Just attach yours to this thread with instructions to update and I will delete your post and update the main download.

Smooth, Thanks! I know a lot of us are in need of something like this... Much better than endless searching of the board!

Anyone know of a way to send a message (or any other similar action) only to the client that requested it without having to put the client's name in the request? The reason I ask this is that I use the same settings on all my clients... and I do NOT want to change that.

Worst case, is there a variable that can be used that contains the local client's name?

gregoryx
Of course you will need the client's specific name to send a message to a specific client.

I have created a "setup.mls" scene which has a few buttons that copy over .ini files from a config directory to the working directories to customize a generic cinemar and MLServer directory to client specific directories when the batch file is run. I posted this process with the files in this forum.

You might try to have a variable named "ClientName" be assigned to a particular client when the setup.mls batch file is run (A MLCmd.exe MLServeCmd set variable...) then I would try to see if you can use {{ClientName}} in a conditional macro which is where you would send the command.

smooth, re-reading this, I'm wondering if you're suggesting that using an MLCmd mode, I could set a variable that would be stored on the local client so that I can send the appropriate request, given that the variable is set per client. If so, please confirm how I'd go about this on a per-client basis. I'm fine with using a different "per client" auto-launch command to set the client variable, I just didn't realize that there are client-local-only variables. Thanks!
