Galaxy Tab for MainLobby

Postby Blade » Sun Dec 05, 2010 6:04 pm

Has anyone seen the galaxy tab by Samsung?
It looks like it uses flash. We should be able to run the MainLobby client on it.
I wonder if it would work ok with MainLobby.
Any comments?

Has anyone had a chance to play with one of these?
How well would it work for ML?

Since these tablets are not Windows based none of them will run MainLobby out of the box. However they will run the MainLobby.swf file when served up by MLServer. We are fine tuning this and you'll see support for all these Android tablets in an upcoming release of MLServer. I've got my eyes on the Motorola Xoom.

I recently test drove Splashtop Remote on my Android phone connected to another machine running MainLobby and I must say I was quite impressed at the speed.

It's potentially, when connected to a fast processor, even faster than running the app natively.

So any of these Android tablets, non-windows, are capable of running MainLobby ala the SplashTop Remote software for Android.

Mario,

I have the android HTC Incredible phone and connected to my ML client using SplashTop Remote. My response time to ML through the phone is very good. Only one small problem for me:

There is a screen resolution setting in the phone app offers two choices: 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768. When the SplashTop app on my android phone took control of my local desktop, it resized the desktop to 1024 x 768. Unfortunately, my native desktop resolution for my main ML client screens is 1440 x 900. When I forced the local screen resolution back to 1440 x 900, it causes the SplashTop Remote app to stop responding.

I'm guessing your ML client is running 1024 x 768.

Otherwise, this is a very cool way to control ML through a phone or tablet. I just ordered the Coby Kyros tablet from the link in the above post. Can't beat the price ... I'll keep the forum posted. :D

Hi Ron,

Yeah - I'm running 1024x768 for my own personal scenes.

I would send in a request to SplashTop to see if they'd allow an option to just keep the resolution as is.

I've sent in another request and they do respond.

Well the Motorola Xoom is set to release in Canada around Mar 17th.
I think I will definitely be picking one up. I hope something will be ready to use it with MainLobby.
I do not mind creating new screens for it :)

This slate from Asus appears to be getting pretty good reviews - running Windows 7:
