Windows media center

Postby dcrera » Fri Oct 05, 2007 3:10 am

Hi,

(Not sure if I am posting in the correct thread)

I want to control Vista MCE from Mainlobby.

I followed the thread on TCPSEND.

Questions :

1. Where can I find the doco for TCPSEND (is the 2 way TCPSEND available) ?
2. Would I be able to see the meta data for My Music ?
3. Can someone post a working example of Mce control

Thank You

Ok, maybe that's not do'able.

Let me try again.

In Windows Media Center provision is made for adding third party apps eg My Movies, My Weather etc. to the scroll down/across list.

If someone in this forum could write a piece of code to add My Lobby or My Home Control or My whatever and have it lauch Mainlobby would that not be cool ?

With Niveus, Linksys and Dlink (not forgetting the Xbox 360) due to release a new generation of media extenders for Vista, every Tv is the home would now be accessable for Total Home Control. No need for expensive touch screens, just use a MCE remote.

Your comments !!

Thanks

Vista Mainlobby Media Center

Postby dcrera » Thu Apr 10, 2008 1:08 am

Hi Mcasio, Smoothtlk

Since I had no feed back in the last 7 months on this topic I thought I would ask you directly.

Do you think adding Mainlobby as a plugin to Vista Media Center has no merit ?

Thanks

Dcrera,
You might have missed that we recently put DVDLobby375WMC into beta.

This allows exposure of DVDLobby database and ultimately capabilities to the Windows Media Center crowd.

More importantly, it shows we can "do it" for further integration.

Try it out, let us know how it works for you.

Hi,

That's it !! Right on

Now put Mainlobby on MCE and the entire home automation market would be using Mainlobby (WMCLobby).

This would be a killer combo.

Sorry for LifeWare, Niveus, Autonomic.

Ok, how soon ?

One of the primary keys is that it's "NOT on IT".

MCE's largest drawback to extension is that it was conceived as a single PC solution. MainLobby is a client / server / web solution. The MCE navigation is now exposed to "whatever we want to do with it" on the MainLobby3 Server. And, multiple MCE UI's can connect at the same time. And, the MCE local capabilities are also exposed (as evidenced that today, DVDLobbyWMC launches the movie in the WMC LOCAL movie player).

This is quite a bit beyond what the current MCE apps are even considering in their TCP implementations.

Hi Smoothtlk,

My interest at this stage is for Home automation using MLGD for lighting and security.

Does DvdLobby use MLGD ?

Thanks

DVDLobby375 can send commands to MLGD that would then talk to a configured serial device (turn on the projector as example).

DVDLobby375WMC does not have the current capability to "play" a MLServeCmd. It does have the capability to open the chosen movie in the Windows Media Center player.

The next click out for DVDLobby375WMC is to add the "Play Movie" flexibility that exists in the native DVDLobby375 plugin.

We first wanted to get some reaction to what is there now, and have been very suprised that not many have either "found it", or tried it, or have tried and commented on it.

maybe someone needs to post on various forums to get non MainLobby3 Client users that are currently using MediaCenter to get some reaction?

Once we have that input, we go to town adding the capability you are looking for (Home Automation, Lighting, etc.).

Hi,

I hear you.

As far as I can tell and know, there is no media center interface for any open non proprietary hardware.

There are a few media center interfaces, but these are tied to the proprietary hardware and are funded by a second mortage.

A solution from Cinemar would blow this wide open and that's the very reason we all use your product.
