Any tutorials that i can follow?

Postby dbinaz » Thu Mar 01, 2007 10:40 pm

Are there any tutorials around that go step by step to creating a simple or not so simple scene?
The user guide just goes through the interface and not how to setup a whole scene.
I already have CQC, but interested in learning this to see if it is better. but it's very confusing so far.

thx.

dbinez,
Do you have MainLobby? The trial?
No tutorials yet. So far it hasn't been needed.
Feel free to post additional questions.
If you are installing MainLobby, I can also RDP or LogMeIn.com into your PC and show you around a bit. PM me if this is of interest.
Thanx

dbinaz,

Yes - if you can tell us what is confusing we can certainly help clear things up for you.

well, can one of you just make a quick tutorial that shows how to add a UPB light and control it and get status through Elk since the UPB plugin is not free and there is no trial?

That would help i'm sure.

thx

dbinaz,

You would use the MLLIGHTING family plugin to add a UPB controller.

Then press the Add Button in the lights section to add a light. Fill in all the light information and assign a unique ID# to the light similar to the ELK.

You can also import your UPE file if you've already configured things in UPStart.

Once your light is added it will create several variables in MLServer called.

mllighting_001_value = 100
mllighting_001_status = On

These variables can then be assigned to a button in MainLobby to show the status of that particular light.

You can control the light by sending an MLServeCmd from a button in MLServer.

It might look like this:
MLServeCmd.MLLighting|Toggle~001 [Toggle Light 001]
MLServeCmd.MLLighting|On~001~50 [Turn Light 001 on to 50%]
MLServeCmd.MLLighting|Off~001

Hope that helps.

So you have to actually type in the whole cmd or copy/paste? can't just pick from available options?

Just copy paste.

We're working towards drop down selects. All plugins need to be updated to support this though.

You can use the ELK plugin to control your lighting which wouldn't use the MLLIGHTING Plugin at all.

THe MLLighting Family plugin is only used if you are talking directly to the UPB controller from our driver.

Well, there is no trial for that UPB plugin, so that is the only way I can try it right now

think i found a bug.

i clicked the "test" button and it didn't have a cmd in it. it stopped responding then alerted that flash9 has become unresponsive, i said to abort and now nothing happens when i click anything on the editor.
