Thumbnail Paging

Postby ggraef » Mon Jun 21, 2010 2:22 pm

In the new world of touchscreens (and gesture control? speculation is Windows 8 will support XBox Kinect style gesture control) the "next" and "previous" buttons seem a little archaic... I would really like to see both DVDLobby and MusicLobby support a more modern interface that allows rapid scrolling by flicking (swiping? is there a proper term?) across the screen. This would make browsing much easier (and largely obliviate the need for quick jump buttons, e.g. A-Z slider).

The paged access is the single biggest reason in my house for just listening to XM radio rather than CDs. But a scrolling interface, e.g. ipod/ipad interface, would make a world of difference...

When Windows and Flash start to support gestures we will certainly see how they fit into MainLobby.

Windows 7 already supports gestures (I working with a multi-touch monitor as I type this and it does work, out of the box).

As for flash, 10.1 added support for multi-touch...
