Please Please PLEASE Import coverart from MyMovies

Postby varun » Wed Feb 10, 2010 3:48 am

MyMovies is a great way to input movies into MainLobby. Complete control of the content displayed in each movie within the MyMovies interface, with an easy export into MainLobby.

The biggest benefit of using MyMovies over DVDProfiler and MovieCollector is that MyMovies stores the path to movies online on your hard drive and not just on a DVD changer or in a DVD library. That vital path information to the movie is transferred into DVDLobby with the MyMovies import into the "Movie File" field. This is far superior to having to manually input the path EACH AND EVERY TIME for over 400 movies!

However the BEAUTIFUL coverart that already exists in each of the movie directories is ignored by MainLobby import. MainLobby then creates its own low res cover art arbitrarily using whatever movie name it wants. For example, for 3:10 to Yuma, MainLobby puts in the cover art for the original 1960's movie rather than the updated 2008 movie, A Midsummer's Night Dream gets the cover art from Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, etc.

Why?

Dave, PLEASE update the MyMovies import feature to also import the cover art. The cover art is stored within the directory to each movie.

Varun, Have you used Cinemar's MLDMR plugin that automates all of that?
That is the deluxe method supported by Cinemar. The One by One is the default DVDLobby offering.

Agreed, mymovies is covers are very nice and high quality. I use metabrowser, media center master, and mymovies before i would use mlmdr. Not to complain, but Its search function is horrible and the cover art flexibility is just not there. Hopefully a future upgrade will correct this.

I second mymovies support.
