Import from XBMC?

Postby alexd » Tue Dec 09, 2008 5:38 pm

Have you thought about an import from XBMC? (http://www.xbmc.org)

Basically I am looking for an import routine to work with any free/opensource media player / library system that has the ability to auto-add movies and/or tv shows based on their FILENAME.

XBMC has an awesome import routine that works very well for movie files, music albums, and TV shows. It uses different index sites on the web to scrape the data from and you can even select which site you prefer the sytstem to use (e.g. imdb.com thetvdb.com etc)

It can produce an XML export of its video libraries. I have some of the XML extracts if this is of any help?

I have all of my movies ripped and converted to either avi or mkv. The filename is the movie name. I have many hundreds of DVDs that I have converted over the last few years and adding them manually is going to hurt! I know several apps auto-add movies based on folder names (and then dvd lobby imports from them), but that won't work for me - as described above.

Any ideas? Help appreciated!

Alex
