Forum Login Issues

Postby indecision » Thu May 04, 2006 5:00 pm

For about a week now I have been having to log in every time I visit the forums. Nothing has changed on my end and I have continued to check the box that should log me in each time I visit.

I don't think that it is a cookie setting because it is happening on my laptop at work and both of my home computers. Any suggestions?

Davis

autologin is working for me. I wonder if it was associated to the forum upgrade around that time.

Thanks for the responses. I don't know what it could be. It definitely started at the time of the forum upgrade. I have never had this problem in the last 18 months or so of coming here. No doubt is something on my end. Just strange that it is happening in different locations on different computers.

Thanks,
Davis

Hey - you aren't alone! I've noticed the same thing on several computers as well. I'm using Firefox everywhere, could that possibly be the culprit?

Perhaps Cinemar needs to change the cookie location in admin to http://www.cinemaronlineforums.com/forum/

Because you moved the forum location it is possible you have specified the cookie for the old location of the forums..or possibly when you upgraded it somehow removed the setting.

You can read about this here

http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article.php?article_id=69

"Cookie Domain: This is default on most forums as your domain name without the http:// part. This tells the cookie which site set it and allows that site to retrieve it. This is the most commonly incorrectly set option and if set incorrectly, will lead to the inability to stay logged in. "

Just thought that I would mention that I am still having to log in every time I visit the forums (which is way too many times a day I might add :) ). I know you guys are busy so no big deal, I just know that it is not happening to everyone, so may have been forgotten.

Yes, I have had the problem for several weeks. Using IE6 on XP Pro SP2, fully patched up to date.
