Recommendation For Building DVD Lobby System

No matter how large or how small, the area of Home Theater is what we all have in common. So...Let others know your configuration. List your components first and then if you care to, a small history. Be sure to come back and keep it updated!

Recommendation For Building DVD Lobby System

Postby DCBUS » Fri Jan 22, 2016 10:27 am

Hello,
I would like to build a movie server using DVDlobby and looking for guidance on system product. Such as Windows 7? Also would like a good recommendation on a video card with HDMI output. I would also imagine a suggestion of a raid system? If you have a list that is working for you, please let me know, just confused on the direction of product to use to get a good running movie server. This server will be in a rack to supply the house.

Thanks Jr

Hi Jr,

There may be a couple of different things you could do for this. Here are a couple of threads that offer some suggestions:

I'm currently running a Windows 7 machine (going to update to Windows 10 soon) running ML, using unRAID (http://lime-technology.com/) for my movie storage, and using a Dune HD box to play the movies. This combination has worked well for me. The above threads mention using an Intel NUC machine, which is a smaller footprint, but if you want a rack-mountable server, you could use the NUC hardware list as a guideline.

I hope this helps.

Randy

Hello Randy,

thank you. I will check it out. Sorry for the late thank you. I did not get a email showing a post to this article.
