Thanks. Then I'll order one for the kitchen and wait for the theater.

We do have the Smart Series available on our site? Did you not see it?

That's what I'm doing. I've got one for the theater now. Once the 3D version is available, I'll move the 2D one for the whole house and dedicate the other one to the theater for the 3D option.

I ran into an issue - don't know if it is Dune itself or the Dune driver - easy work around but wanted to post to save others time. If you have a ! character in your movie name, Dune won't play it when issued from the AV command - a dialog blinks on the Dune indicating the format is not supported. However, I can navigate to the movie within the Dune interface and play it no problem (even with ! in the name). Once I removed the ! in the movie name, it works just fine. For example, Reno 911! movie - take the ! out and it works perfect. I don't know if there are other characters to avoid - I have used .,- with no problem. Thanks.

So I have this brand new Dune Player.

Do I just use AVdriver for both Driver and Model?
I selected user defines port and set it to 80.

Attached is the log.

You need to install the Dune Driver and then in Family Manager create a new AV Family device using the Dune driver. Point it to the IP Address of the Dune.

Thanks, solved that problem.

I am using a Windows 7 PC as a file server, with a share \\MediaServer\Movies1

I cannot use the Dune Player Network Browser to open the share.
I do see the PC, and all the other PCs on the network. But no shares.

I can access the shares from everything else. All Windows 7 PCs.

On the WIndows 7 PC, I have the share set for Everyone, Read/Write. Firewall Off, password protection off.

Still no joy.

I've been looking for answers on the Internet. Haven't found any yet.

Should I be able to browser there from the Dune?

From the Dune you have to make sure that you have enabled SMB sharing.

From MLServer set the file protections for all the files in the movie folder so that all files have "Everyone" with Read/Write access.

To add to what Dave just said, it's on the "Security" tab of your folder's sharing properties.

The Users have Read/Write on the files on the shared drive.
I added a group Everyone and also gave it Read/Write.

On the Dune, I found SMB Server, but it was enabled.

Do you think it is because all the Windows PCs are in a homegroup?

Still not connecting. I can see the PCs from the Dune. But the contents show empty.

I'll try again tomorrow. Any help is appreciated.

I had the same issue. I had to create network shares on the Dune (pop up menu) to point to my shared drives. I did use the everyone- read/write and still no go. I plugged in the administrator acct and password for the machine controlling the shares into the Dune and then I was able to browse my files and playback. Hope that helps. I still have some bugs to work out of the Dune. I am not able to start a movie from ML after I start the Dune player. I receive an error message in the logs. If I start a movie from the Dune thru the shares, then stop the movie, I can then start one from ML. From there it is perfect and plays each time unless I shut down the Dune player and restart it. Its not a major concern for me now as I am doing other things. But see if you get the same thing happening when you get yours up and running.

I have had no issues on the Dune at all. I have all my movies on a Windows 7 Pro machine with a password protected share point. Once I setup the path in the Dune and entered the credentials, no problems. I turn the Dune off and on often, no problems. I have 3 different Dunes, 2 different models and they all work flawless.

As I posted before, I had a few movies with special characters in the path name - windows allows this, but when trying to play the movie from an AV command in DVD lobby, I would get a flashing error message on the Dune indicating "format not supported" - once I removed the special characters in my path names, all problems were solved.

From what is sounds like to me is that there must be some security feature on your server of something that prevents logging in "automatically"? When I first setup my Dunes, I first ignored ML and used the Dune interface to make sure they were all working properly. Once that was done, then I setup ML to issue commands. Good luck!
