So I picked up a used Smart D1 to play around with to see if I like it and how well it works. I think I have everything setup ok. Driver connected to the Dune player. I am running the latest firmware version of 121018_0846 on the Dune.
Giving the play command I get the following error in the AV agent log.

I have had no issues playing back blu-rays on MPC previously. I even tried a DVD folder to play back. Any specific rights that I need to set up on the Dune? All my movies are ripped currently to a number of 3TB drives on the same server that is running MLServer. Just for giggles, I added Everyone with full control the the shares on server to see if it was the issue. Any idea how to follow up with this?

Can you use the Dune remote and its native interface to browse to that folder and play the Blu-ray? We first need to make sure it is not something in the rip that the Dune doesn't like.

Think I figured it out. I had to create a new network folder. I did that, navigated to it thru the Dune and picked a movie and it played. I tried it thru the MLServer from a client and it worked. All the commands work properly. Looks promising sofar as my better half gets flustered when the HTPC doesn't needs a reboot. Is it normal to have about 30 seconds until the media starts to play? One other question, do you recommend installing a thumb drive into the Dune, or is it not needed?

Mine takes about 25 seconds or so. That's including waking the drive up. You could probably reduce the time by keeping your drives awake, but may not be worth shortening the life of the drive to shave off 5 seconds or so.

The Dune is a fantastic product, especially if you are coming from dealing with all the flakiness that comes with the HTPC. Just wish I had made the jump sooner. :)

Dave, is the Dune TV-303D supported with the driver? Just saw it today at CES and looks like a nice little unit.

Thanks.

The Dune TV-303D is not available in the US yet. The current driver only supports the movie playback functionality on the TV players. I haven't found any additional protocol information for the TV features. If I can dig it up we'll add that into the driver too.

Thanks Dave. My understanding was that this model doesn't have TV functionality anyway (despite the name) so the current driver might be fine.

Ok, so any of you guys have a Cinemar backsplash made that I can add to my Dune, that your willing to share. No folders, no menu's, no home message. Just a backsplash that is the main screen when Dune powers up. I'm feeling lazy. :D :D

CinemarDave wrote:We have released a device driver for the current line of Dune HD Networked Media Players. This driver is a member of the AV family is fully supported by DVDLobby as a media playback device. The driver provides two-way feedback of the critical player operations. So if you need a player for a remote room or want a more standard playback device instead of the HTPC then this is a good option. I've been playing movies on the player here for the past two days. So far it has done a wonderful job of playing everything I've asked it to. All current models should be supported. I am using a Dune HD Smart B1 for driver development.

Is the statement for the current line of Dune HD Networked Media Players still accurate?

Or is it just the models Cinemar carries in the store? I was mainly wondering about the 3D and compact series.

Or are thy just not listed in the store yet, but available?

From talking with the Dune Sales rep, the 3D model is not available yet in the US and it won't support playing back ISO BluRays. It should work with folder structures though.

We do support the Smart Series H1/D1/B1 models and the Duo/Max.

Sorry for the 50 questions.

I'm trying to decide if I can replace an existing 3D Bluray player with a Dune.

Do these Dune players with Bluray, like the B1 play 3D discs?
I tried looking at the Dune site, but I couldn't figure it out.

No problem.

No Dune's that are available in the US support 3D playback.

Probably won't be for a couple months is what I was told.
