Songza Radio App

Postby CinemarDave » Mon Feb 23, 2015 6:21 pm

We now support Songza Radio. If you are not familiar with Songza it is a streaming radio service that was bought by Google last year. Songza is free and does not have instream ads. You do need to create an account on Songza.com. Unlike other radio sources Songza serves up music playlists based on a whole host of options. Pick a Genre, Mood, Artist and Songza will show you playlists of related music. Don't know what you want to listed to? Then let the Songza Concierge help you find your music. I've been listening to nothing else but Songza for the past month. Much better than listening to the same 10 classic rock songs we're accustomed to. Setup is just like any of our other radio apps. Supports 4 radios and it's free to try for 30 days. Have a listen.

Do I need to set this up in the AVFamily? If so, what do I set up all the information as? I don't see a drop down showing Songza so I am thinking I use AVDriver, but not sure where to go from there.

Thanks.

Dave - One slight item with this driver surrounds the User ID and Password panel. Looks like you may have changed the logic with this one to allow a UserID per radio, which might be an interesting change. If that is not what you intended, then please review the radio selection panel in the setup. I found that you must insert your userID and Pass individually for each of the four radios, then the driver starts to communicate with the radio server.
Thanks!

I do indeed allow for a different username/password per radio. If you are only using 1 radio it should not be necessary to put a username/password into the other three. I'll check to make sure that is so.

Looks like your songza account was not authorized. I will look at that when I look at your Calendar issue.

OK thank you. I sent the file, and also installed v9.

Attention Windows XP users. Songza streams its music in aac format encapsulated in a .mp4 container. This is good for audio but bad for Windows XP users because XP does not have any aac decoders. It appears Songza on Windows XP is not an option. I'm still researching options for XP users.

Yes they are in the sample files for the iPad, but not for the iPhone yet. I don't know about the Android projects because I don't use them.

Thanks Sony, I am actually trying to set up scenes on the old pc based MainLobby as I am still hanging on retro-style. Looking for an .mls file

Sony, there are Songza scenes for all the sample web apps including in the iPhone 5 sample.

I have not done a sample set of .mls files for the Flash client yet. I'll see if I can put a set together this weekend. There just like the TuneIn scenes with command changes.

Thanks Dave I didn't think the iPhone projects were updated yet. I will take a look at that.

I have noticed that the set favorite, for what I am assuming is the channels, isn't working for me. I looked at the Songza app log and I see:

doCommand - ToggleFavorite~13916870~1 from w1921681122

But the heart isn't changing color, and when I bring up the Favorites under the Stations, nothing is there.
