I have no way of testing it here so if it does not work I'll need to see the Nuvo event logs. The Nuvo driver is a member of the AV family and Command Builder will have the list of available commands. Let me know how it goes.

Awesome! Typically I would jump on this but it's going to have to wait a few days...

Right now I've reduced MLS to just the server and MuL to watch the memory usage because there seems to be a leak somewhere. So, the other plugins are there but nothing is loaded and I only connect the client long enough to get the three music servers playing. The following is my current observations:

MLS Server w/only MuL
5/29 @ 10:12pm - 79m
5/30 @ 06:52pm - 164m
5/31 @ 04:33pm - 242m
5/31 @ 06:43pm - 249m
6/1 @ 07:46am - 272m
6/1 @ 12:31pm - 295m

SQL Server
5/29 @ 10:13pm - 49m
5/30 @ 06:52pm - 845m
5/31 @ 04:33pm - 844m
6/1 @ 07:46am - 804m
6/1 @ 12:31pm - 805m

I expect SQL Server (or any database) to consume 50-90% of available physical memory, but I'm concerned about MLS w/MuL continuing to consume more memory. Waiting for the MLS process to reach ~350meg, which is typically when everything starts slowing, songs take seconds, clicking "Next" on the client take 5-15 seconds to respond.

So I haven't vanished, just working on this one item, then I'll switch to the Nuvo plugin!

Thanks!!!

- Jeff

Do you have logging turned on inside MusicLobby? If yes have you installed all the latest versions that were released this week? SQL Server is not an issue as it will release memory if the operating system needs it.

Okay... I've upgraded everything and installed the new Nuvo GC v4. I'll take the Nuvo GC v4 issues over to the appropriate forum....

I'll begin the testing again shortly and will have MLS, MuL, and NuvoGC.

Thanks!

Re: MusicLobby 4 Bug Reports and Feature Requests

Postby brettcp » Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:26 am

I've spent the last two evenings converting from ML3 to ML4.. quite a task so far.. I believe I've come across a few issues:

1 - MusicLobby - I play an album. There are multiple pages of tracks (ie - 2 pages). I can click next track through to the 2nd page, but I cannot click Previous track when I'm on the 2nd page if the previous track is on the first page.. so say I have songs 1-8 on page one, and 9-16 on page two.. i can't be on track 9 and go back to track 8 using the previous track command ( MusicLobby|PrevTrack~{{music_activesource_{{clientname}}}} ). Previous track will not go back to the first page. It acts as if I'm not pressing a button at all - no action. As long as I'm on one page (ie - page 1, OR page 2, i can navigate both next and previous just fine).

2 - I have a Geovision v8.5 home camera setup. This worked great in ML3. With ML4, I install the MLIPCamera - Geovision driver from CIA.. note that the installation assistant doesn't show that I've installed it even after I have installed it (no version number appears in the 'Installed Version' column). I pulled my ML3 scene over to ML4 but I just get a blank page... so I installed the ML4 IP Camera Family Plugin which lists the Geovision drivers in the drop-down list, but when this is loaded, MLServer just hangs with an hourglass and then crashes.

3 - If I install any of the guigraphix libraries from CIA.. they all work fine, but if I UNINSTALL any of them (which I'm doing through the Windows control panel, add/remove programs), the mainlobby client will no longer load. The process starts, but it will not display. I can kill it with task manager, but it will never start and become visible. If I re-install the guigraphix library which I previously un-installed, the mainlobby client will start just fine. I am not using ANYTHING from these libraries in my active mainlobby display.. i just installed them to give them a look.. so as of now I have a bunch of guigraphix libraries installed which I'm not using at all, and I'd like to uninstall them.

4 - This may not be a "bug", it may just be a command I need to prefix.. but.. say I'm playing an album from my music library, then I go to Internet Radio and play a channel.. mainlobby does not stop the playback of my music library before it starts playing the internet radio.. so I get two songs playing at once. ML3 used to stop the previous playback before starting new playback.

My server is an Intel Core i7 with 8GB RAM running Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit. If you (Mario or David) would like remote access to my system to check these out, I'd be happy to let you do so. Thanks!

>>> 1 - MusicLobby - I play an album. ...
Confirmed bug. I will fix it in the next release.

>>> 2 - I have a Geovision v8.5 home camera setup. ...
I am not aware of any issues. I do not have Geovision here so I may have to work on your system if there is an issue

3 - If I install any of the guigraphix libraries from CIA.. ...
You cannot uninstall the GuiGraphix libraries that way because it ends up removing the library file but it does not put back the empty library file that MainLobby requires. To correctly uninstall a GuiGraphix library you need to run the installer and select the "Uninstall" option from the installer.

4 - This may not be a "bug"
In the V3 world Internet radio as part of MusicLobby. Now that it is an independent app you will have to modify your play button to include an InternetRadio or Music stop command before the play.

Brett can you set up and email me your LogMeIn info? I want to remote into your PC to look at GeoVision as I cannot test that driver here.

Brett - I discovered that the MLIPCamera Family Plugin was installing and old and outdated mdb file. I've updated the installer. Install version 3.99.3 of the MLIPCamera Family Manager plugin and say Yes to the "Do you want to overwrite the database" prompt.

Dave,

With the latest updates I'm back to MuL simply stopping after playing a song. When I got home today both server 1 and 2 had simply stopped but server 3 was still going. I fired up a client and the response from the server was beyond sluggish, eventually I got both servers playing again by simply pressing "Next".

Quick snippet of the MusicLobby log file doesn't show any problems:

There is too much noise with the MLServer log in verbose mode to post it here. You said previously the problem was related to the encoding of specific songs, so I'm not sure if we've encountered regression (old code coming back) or there are other songs? Everything has been playing perfectly fine since you provided the prior patch for m4a songs.

A side note, I did a quick login to the server and found the sluggishness is because of the memory issue, MLServer.exe has increased from 112 meg @ 5:46 pm yesterday to 285 meg as of 4:41 pm today... So, I'll start removing plugins again to see if I can narrow it down, apparently it's not the Nuvo GC since I'm now running the new v4.x version...

Thanks...

- Jeff

Well, all three servers have been playing without a hiccup since yesterday so I don't know what happened.

Regarding memory usage, I've left the server running as-is and MLServer.exe is now literally bouncing between 370-489 meg and beyond sluggish. The bounce happens in seconds so something really weird is going on, it takes a little bit consume the memory and then frees it almost instantly (apparently leaking a little each time). The sluggishness results in pages being completely missed (takes ML too long to transmit the page mode to the GC), the separation between songs on MuL is between 5-20 seconds, etc. Will continue to watch, just to see if something finally breaks and reveals itself.

I need you to send me a complete list of all the legacy plugins, device drivers and apps you have loaded. What you are seeing makes no sense and cannot be replicated here. It has to be the combination of what you have loaded.

Understood.... Although I think we're adding noise to this thread since it's unrelated, sorry....

Legacy -
MLDirecTVIP - 3.99.89
MLHSPlugin - 3.9.3
MLISY - 0.1.32
MLScheduler - 3.99.0

Family Device Drivers -
Nuvo - 4.0.4539.29096
TED1000 - 4.0.4536.17300

Server Apps -
CallerID - 4.0.4536.16342
MLDateTime - 4.0.4536.16095
MusicLobby - 4.0.4539.24551

-------------------------------------------

But, prior to your request I've already unloaded most of the above and restarted MLServer... Right now I'm only loading the following:

Legacy - None
Family Device Drivers - Nuvo, TED1000
Server Apps - MusicLobby

We'll see what happens... The automation rules are running for the Nuvo sources, so it's updating based on % complete for all three sources, therefore adding a little bit of load. Finally, MuL & Nuvo are logging and MLS is in verbose logging mode.

A couple of days ago I saw that the Mainlobby 4.0 Client was updated to 4.0.32.1 and Musiclobby was updated to 4.0.4539.24551. I updated both. After launching the mainlobby client, MLServer would crash. No entries were present in the MLServer log.. I troubleshot it for a while and discovered that MLRss is the culprit. If I un-load MLRss in MLServer, then restart both MLServer and the Mainlobby client, everything works just fine. As soon as I re-enable MLRss and launch the Mainlobby 4.0 client again, MLServer crashes as soon as the Mainlobby 4.0 client is loaded.

Note that My MLRss license is expired (as I don't really care to use it).. but it was expired before I updated to the versions noted above and was not crashing at that point.

Re: MusicLobby 4 Bug Reports and Feature Requests

Postby jeffdoo » Sat Jun 23, 2012 5:40 pm

Dave,

There has been a complete regression regarding the importing of iTunes playlists via XML. I just finished updating the playlist for the Audi and went through the usual steps for MusicLobby:

1) Force an import of all the music libraries, to pickup the newly purchased mp3 songs
2) Export the Audi playlist from iTunes in XML format
3) Start the MainLobby Client
4) Delete the existing Audi playlist from the XML client
5) Force the rescan of the playlists to pickup the new Audi.xml file

Upon selecting the playlist there are 67 tracks shown in the ML Client instead of the expected 79 tracks as shown in iTunes....

A quick look at the list once again shows an old defect has returned... MusicLobby is once again unable to handle "[" or "]" in the filename or song title. I'm not certain which and we already solved this problem previously, so someone has brought back old code or removed whatever was used as the solution. Any help returning this functionality back to MuL would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks.

- Jeff

ps: The latest software releases are installed... MuL 4.0.4539.24551
