tip: escaping an exclamation point in a macro

Postby Art Dustman » Fri Mar 11, 2016 8:32 pm

I realize this is a "duh" - but in case anyone gets stuck. I have many notifications setup to send a push notifications to my IOS devices and sometimes I like emphasis; and the literal string in the text needs "!" - I don't know a way to escape them when I have macros and literals together, but my quick solution is simply to make a variable called "EP" and I set the value to ! - so now when I want an exclamation point but don't want it evaluated as breaking up my macro, I simply plug in {{ep}} and I get what I want.

Hadn't thought of that, just avoided exclamation points when sending notifications

There is a series of server variables {{symbol_*}} that contains variable names for a lot of problem characters. The ! was missing. I'll add that {{symbol_excalimation}} in the next update.
