Does iPad orientaton affect scenes?

Postby indecision » Wed Apr 11, 2012 9:05 pm

When using an ipad with ML, do you guys keep it locked into in landscape or portrait mode? I assume that scenes can't be designed to look good in both orientations (meaning you have to choose one or the other)?

I use landscape, mainly because I have my iPad wirh a cover that has a keyboard, but I think the instructions recommend locking the iPad in the landscape mode.

All the iPad and Android scenes were designed for landscape mode. There's just too much code required to dynamically shift all the scene geometry from portrait to landscape with little benefit.

Thanks to both of you for the reply. I figured that would be the case. I hate that the ipad docks in portrait mode rather than landscape. We use our current devices (airpanels) a lot while docked just to make a quick change. Maybe I will look at Android again...struggling with this decision on what tablets to get.

I agree with you. But I think Apple will be changing to a landscape docking mode with the next iPad potentially out next fall. Not the starter Romey here but I Trubey think that at some point Apple will be forced to either have a dual docking connector or come up with some methodology for landscape docking.

Krumpy,

I agree. I half expected them to have the dual connector on the iPad 3. They patented it a few years ago. But I think the most logical thing is to move to a landscape orientation.
